Local telly news here in West Country utterly depressing. Swathes and swathes of blue. We've retained our LibDem MP though.

poppyknot · 07/05/2010 09:19

That was my time too Inmy. I had the radio on by the bed though and drowsed through a few declarations. (In my drowsiness heard an interview with Nick Griffin - not nice)

Feel very deflated and the weather is grey and gloomy. An Alice-in-wonderland version of the Friday morning in 97........)

Have had a hard time trying to explain to an interested DD who had actually won (no one at the moment, dear. Gordon B can still live at No 10 but he won fewer seats. He needs to make friends with Nick Clegg.)

And then there's what will happen with Scotland voting Labour and England Tory.........

MmeLindtChocBrownies · 07/05/2010 09:00

Getorf
Poor DD. What happened? Did she get a plaster?

SGM
Agree wholeheartedly with your post. I lived for 16 years in Germany and they are very used to coalition governments, it is part of normal life.

Whingy thread here

RedRedApples · 07/05/2010 08:59

yep i think coolfonz has a valid line of attack there thx wilf

Bucharest · 07/05/2010 08:55

SGM, great post, not going to look at any other politic threads as don't want to get sick with whingepolitik fatigue.

RedRedApples · 07/05/2010 08:55

oooh bit of tory on tory crit on r4 nice....falling below expectations...questions over the campaign ran by central office

GetOutOfMoiWayTories · 07/05/2010 08:55

Crikey you lot two threads full and a third nearly done!

I missed you lot last night, however poor DD broke her arm and so was in Glucester hospital until midnight, then came back and watched all the drama unfold.

I did manage to vote though - me and DP took it in turns to stay with DD in the hosp and pop out to vote.

I wached the BBC and eventually went to bed at 5am. Up again at half 6, so am sat here at work whey faced. Just off to read the threads - did you all roar at Barking resulkt?

WilfSellOut · 07/05/2010 08:55

I'm beginning to develop a softspot for coolfonz who has just posted this on the anxious Tories thread:

13 years of Labour.

Who helped kill millions in Iraq, still killing and dying in Afghanistan for nothing.

With a prime minister who can't manage a bag of chips.

Who alienated his core vote.

Who screwed up the campaign because he can't even remember to take a microphone of.

When the Tories had huge wave of offshore funds from the super-rich.

Who were supported by the right wing elite who control the British media.

And it appears they still can't win an overall majority. And if they do it's going to be tiny.

It's like Kinnock, but worse.

Beachcomber · 07/05/2010 08:52

Good post SGM. France manages very well with PR. We need to stop calling it a 'hung parliament' and rebrand it as 'opportunity for advancement'

I was at a count this morning, an absolute disaster. Many angry people there, in fact they had about 10 policeman present, in case of punch-ups! which apparently they have had before. Many people were saying that we should definatley have electoral reform. UKIP polled 850,000 votes with not one single MP being elected. As the night rolled on... and on.... people became angrier, more tired, and sadder. I fear the old stiff upper lip may be changing into this .

MmeLindtChocBrownies · 07/05/2010 08:51

Am avoiding the Gordon is a meglomaniac thread as I am too tired to be polite.

Just wrote a huuuuge post about the problems with DD, if anyone wants to take a break and give me advice

Beachcomber · 07/05/2010 08:49

Loving being on same wavelength as everybody else on a thread. MN first I think!
