**You don't need your polling card to vote** Let's keep this near the top

You don't need your polling card to vote - if you don't have it, just turn up at the polling station and tell them your name and address. You don't need ID unless you're in Northern Ireland.

If you don't know where your polling station is, check your local council's website or give them a call.

Let's try and keep this near the top so noone misses out on voting

Yes, and also please note that you have to go to the polling station that you are called to and not just any old one you fancy (as the ballot man was trying to explain to an 18 year old who was behind me in the queue and didn't fancy catching the bus back from her friend's house, bless)

Oh actually can you who have already voted answer an embarassing question? Do they have the party next to the candidate, or just the candidate's name? I am convinced that it is just the candidate's name, DP says that they have the party they belong to listed as well.

I did not know this!

I scoured the house in rage this morning looking fir the fucking things because DP had ut them in a 'safe place' (aka god knows).

They were in the filing cabinet under 'Bank Statements'

I wish I knew that you didn't need to have the darn cards!

Don't you just hate love "party activists".

Someone must be desperate down at the Labour party to be searching via Directory Enquiries for my home phone number (I had no landline for years but am ex-directory now) unless they are were sequentially dialling all 10,000 on my exchange a few evenings ago (even more desperate, considered it's supposedly one of their safe seats!)

Just voted too. Took Dcs (4 & 2) with me also let Ds (4) post ballot papers.

DD (2) on the other hand had an absolute hissy fit (picture screaming child flailing on floor ) because when I told her we were going to vote she thought I said we were going on a boat!!!

I took DD1 in with me, children aren't allowed to see or write the cross on your paper but they let her post my ballot paper, she was very chuffed.

if a party activist offers to hold your dog when you go in, its probably not cos they are after your vote, its probably because they are bored rigid with saying 'good morning, may I have your number please' ad infinitum.

I can confirm you don't need your polling card as I wasn't sent one in the first place (have not long moved and registered after polling cards had been sent), just turned up and gave them my name and address. No problem!

Did get told by an old dear that it's "hard being organised when you have a little one though isn't it" - well yes it is but that's not why I don't have a polling card.
