**You don't need your polling card to vote** Let's keep this near the top

You don't need your polling card to vote - if you don't have it, just turn up at the polling station and tell them your name and address. You don't need ID unless you're in Northern Ireland.

If you don't know where your polling station is, check your local council's website or give them a call.

Oh dear at hairdresser girl; don't understand non voters at all. DS1 off today with what I think might be hayfever and I was quite pelased he got to see us vote as he may well be able to himself in 2 elections, and as he has AS getting through that door without watching us do it might be a barrier IYSWIM.

There's been no local publicity for candidates, even though I did have a look to see, and I spent weeks poring over which to go for so imagine my surprise to look and see that the name of the person I did decide on is in fact someone I would actually choose to vote for as a person! Wife to our Assembly Memnber, pair of them excellent constituents reps.

Shame they don't stand a chance tbh. labour double LD votes last time, and more than doubled tory.

same her taxi driver said that if he did vote it would snp but wouldnt be voting as he didnt know anything about it . i nagged him too to no avail . Thanks for the replys about ds dont think i did register him to vote..oops dont tell him that

sadly the girl who did my hair today said she won't be voting as she doesn't know anything about elections or anything about those running . I tried my best to get her to go and tell her who was running but I am afraid its to no avail.

Indeed, venusonarockbun it makes me cringe that in a democracy, once they get all the voting slips scanned in, they will be able to 'take out' those who voted for particular candidates, or might have written some threatening comment in another language.

If ID cards are not enough, even your votes for the past umpteen years can be identified and mean you get listed as some kind of radical, or threat!

Before the time of a dictatorship, I hope to be off these shores.

my 18 year old ds did not get a polling card in does this mean hes not entitled to vote? Hes quite upset about it which is good

Isnt your number next to your name on their list and isnt the number on the voting slip transferred next to your name on their list also? - meaning that your vote can be traced and is not secret?

I've just voted and I didn't have my card with me.

I took my card with my but couldn't show it to anyone as DD was clutching clutching onto it for dear life! She got about 10 comments about voters starting young these days as she toddled in with the card though

And yes, they have the party name next to the candidate's name.
