Its sunny outside but gloomy in my heart

Took the DC to the polling station this am. DS (6), despite being told voting was private, shouted out: "Mummy's Labour ones are the best! Daddy's Sonserveters ( sic ) are rubbish!" Go DS! Except the polling station was empty.

It was my FIL's birthday yesterday evening. SIL was sat there saying 'I am voting UKIP, we need to keep us out of europe and I am sick of all the immigrants in this country, we can't get a dentist blah de blah'. Had had a glass of wine (red, natch ) so was a bit arsey, saying you can't say that about immigrants, what the bloody hell are you on about, let 'em all in, so SIL now thinks I am an agressive drunken leftie (good).

Am dragging DD to the polling station tonight. She moaned yesterday saying oh mum do I have to and I hissed between gritted teeth you.are.coming.with.me.when.I.vote.

The local newspaper where I work has a cultural/review section which contains an interview with someone who's written about George Orwell this morning - suggesting that George Orwell might vote UKIP ???? WTF. He also tries to suggest that somehow this might be a left wing option. I'm not buying that guy's book but I will have to find a copy to read from the library or in a bookshop to try and find out where he gets that from.

I'm wearing my purple, green and white top in a nod to the suffragettes. Thougth about the bright red cardi but actually voted libdem against the grain and so I wasn't sure it was honest to wear the red, even though it was my preference. and I wouldn't ever wear yellow, for political and skin tone reasons.

oh the problems of voting tactically...

I'm just sad and a bit tearful. Voting this am made me maudlin. It does matter if Labour loses, and my pragmatic head says that is the likely result.

I don't want Cameron and his band of merry smugs in charge.

I don't know what the upside is - if they get in, they are inheriting a somewhat poisoned chalice?

I have a blue tshirt and blue/black skirt on but I don't own much that's red. Perhaps I should have worn all black/grey, but I can do that tomorrow.

It's a great name GetOrf. Fantastic post too. I felt a bit tearful on the way to the polling station - think it's the sense of both the enormity and futility of it. This election really has felt like civil war.

I've voted. I was shaking in the voting booth dithering about. I've done the right thing. Off to Barking now - hope it'll make my heart feel less heavy.

I know my name makes me sound like Clarissa Dickson-Wright, but I chose it because I am a carrot cruncher from Devon. i tried to change it last week but people said awww change it back to GetOrf. So am stuck with this blardy stupid name!

If I had some I would wear red lipstick as well but am afraid would look like an 80s throwback.

I am wearing a rather lovely dress that has both red and yellow flowers on it. It was more luck than judgement though.

I had to go out yesterday and spend an hour weeding the front garden lest any floating voters driving by thought my garden with its big non-Tory sign up looked unkempt and thats what you'd expect from a leftie.

Morning. Italian tv keeps telling me it's a done deal and talking about Sarah's shoes costing more than Sam's. FFS.

No red here either, but have just ranted in Supermarket to nice-but-dim friend who didn't understand why my FB pic is the red rose. "Because today is the most important day of my child's life" I say, throttling her gently over the artichokes.

Now I need to go and berate people on FB. I'm finding some people's attitudes verrrrrry odd. I look at their profile pics, and think yup, I know you, I've known you for a long time...yu don't smell like a Tory......or even worse, an apathetic-couldn't-care-less-who-gets-in-I'll-moan-anyway.

I think I might go to bed very early, so I can get up about 4am UK time just to see the funeral.

I too am going to join the Labour party so that the next election i will be better placed to help them.

Sucks teeth at Blue coat...I saw a Lady this morning (and she was definitly a lady not a woman) in a gorgeous sweeping wrap style cardi ....in the purest Tory blue I've ever seen. I'm afraid to say my reaction was quite viceral. And I like blue as a colour you know some of my best clothes are blue.

I was wearing my blue coat , but all my coats are blue and it is raining .

If there is a miracle today and Labour gets a better than expected result, I'll get a step outside posh boy T-shirt.

What really is worrying me is the Tories doing a Florida, and starting leagl actions to get into power. They do not think that would frighten their City mates and the markets?

Voted. I have no red to wear...(really doesnt look good on me) I am however all dressed up and may get round to doing make up even if I can find some. Anyway I feel as prepared as good clothes and nice knickers can make me...I am sure you look marvelous in your red top getorfmoiland.
