because of the hugs amount of misinformation disseminated by murdoch owned press and the two main political parties who have a vested interested in maintaining the status quo/no electoral reform

this webpage is a useful counter to the various spurious accusations flying around.

a libdem vote is not wasted.

whatever your political colours, i'm begging you, don't vote based on fear, vote positively. vote hopefully. if we all did, we would get change in this country.

noooooo, electra. If any election is the one to vote according to natural choices it could be this one.

If the lib dems get a large % of the vote, and fewer seats it will show how screwed up the voting system is!

electra · 02/05/2010 21:52

My natural choice would be libdem but where I live the seat is Labour and the closest contenders are Conservative by some way. So I feel compelled to vote tactically.

atlantis · 02/05/2010 21:48

When I was originally on here yes, I kept getting mixed up with a similar poster, but not in about three (?) years.

Heathcliffscathy · 02/05/2010 20:57

Soph,

PMSL

I think I called you a troll the other day , i've probably been on here as long as you and everyone keeps calling me a troll and so I got and called the first person (you) I had a disagreement with a troll !!

Forgive me ?

See I even Bumped this up for you.

queenoftheslatterns · 02/05/2010 20:31

i would just like to lol at sophable being a libdem infiltrator. soph was here before me (3 years now - was lissie)

and i totally agree that a libdem vote is not wasted.

Heathcliffscathy · 02/05/2010 20:27

hi. if you search my username you'll find i've been on here since about 2004/5.

i've made rl friends on here.

i am passionately political and if you search me and iraq you'll find plenty of times i got shit loads of stick on here for my posts on the (illegal) war.

i am very excited about this election. last week, for the first time in my life, i joined a political party: the libdems (but i think you knew that was the one right?)

In 97 i voted labour. after iraq i swore i would never vote for them in this incarnation again.

so, yes, i'm really trying to rally support for the libdems on mn, because i love mn and because i really believe that a coalition govt (which even if libdems win the popular vote will be all we can hope for because our electoral system is fucked) with libdem control is our very best chance at electoral reform.

no i don't get paid. no, no one in the libdem party knows i'm doing it, i'm not doing it for them, i'm doing it for me, and my son, and my unborn ds2!

so by all means have a go, get angry with me, or whatever, but the implication that i'm a troll or a paid nobbler of mn is absolutely totally and utterly ridiculous and any quick search under my user name would reflect just that.

this was a good bump wasn't it

apropos to nothing, really..

SamanthaFox · 02/05/2010 16:25

Sorry, but I did. I was looking at the Observer in the garage and thought how lovely she looked.

Sorry, it isn't very relevant to the thread I suppose. But I wanted to mention it.

atlantis · 02/05/2010 16:05

"I just noticed how extremely pretty Nick Clegg's wife is. "

O.K....

SamanthaFox · 02/05/2010 15:25

"There is an interesting article in the daily mail online advising the tories not to vote tory! Peter hitchens I think it is. "

Peter Hitchens has been arguing for a hung parliament for the last 5 years (if memory serves me right) he's a dick (alledgedly ) and was in awe of Russia in the 80's.

snowlady · 02/05/2010 14:24

There is an interesting article in the daily mail online advising the tories not to vote tory! Peter hitchens I think it is.

vesela · 02/05/2010 14:17

hopefully it will pay off in a Lib Dem victory!

seriously, I don't think any party, even one with lots of dosh, would pay anyone to sit on Mumsnet... even if they were coordinating it, there would always be enough volunteers. In fact the other parties should be paying me to get sucked in here and waste time Can't phone canvass, someones's wrong on the internet!

atlantis · 02/05/2010 14:14

... per post

atlantis · 02/05/2010 14:14

.. get paid..

atlantis · 02/05/2010 14:14

Yes I...

lemonmuffin · 02/05/2010 14:06

Yeah right about Clegg! he'll have run off to big business long before then i reckon.

lemonmuffin · 02/05/2010 14:05

snowlady i know, she's fab isn't she

lemonmuffin · 02/05/2010 14:03

I don't know, just seems the op has been posting loads over the last couple of weeks bigging up the libdems, bit of a jokey comment that she should be getting some sort of reward for it really.

snowlady · 02/05/2010 14:03

Lemonmuffin - have a look at the way Atlantis is doing so much tory electioneering on these boards. Some one must be paying her.

At least if the tories do get in with a majority they will have to make all the unpopular decisions and we can have Clegg next time .

atlantis · 02/05/2010 13:56

It's only fair to accuse a lib dem isn't it? Or is it only the tory posters who are paid to post?

vesela · 02/05/2010 12:55

why paid???! I'm a Lib Dem member, though, as are 60,000 other people (probably a lot more now, since a lot have been joining in the last couple of weeks). Does it not occur to you that some of us just feel this way and want to argue/persuade?

If I were in the UK I'd be delivering my little heart out right now. As it is I'm having a break from phone canvassing (on skype).

lemonmuffin · 02/05/2010 12:38

I will be voting positively and hopefully thanks. That's why i'll be voting Tory.

I hope you're getting well paid for all this libdem promotion you're doing

atlantis · 02/05/2010 12:25

Ok? What's the difference for the uninformed please?
