I think Clegg has most to gain from this debate.

I think that the influential economists are split between Cameron's and Brown's per a survey a few months ago.

I am not an economist but I am interested in the subject and agree with TheHeathenOfSuburbia. I think it is difficult to forecast the correct rate at which public spending should be cut.

We know them too well already, don't we? The Chancellors' debate was more interesting because I hadn't really heard from Darling or Osbourne much on camera and Vince was very self-assured and entertaining.

I know they proably can't talk about the massive cuts required but the not being able to makes a mockery out of the whole fandango. May as well just pick on who's got the best foundation.

I thought DC would be much more impressive than he is.

I also hoped Clegg might be more robust.

I thought GB might be more shaky, less self assured.

DC reminds me of Blair in terms of his v irritating style before elected that only toned down slightly in office

i think they are very much cut from the same cloth. it was successful cloth for Blair though....

Dinster - like the others said, no-one knows which is acutally the right answer as to cut now or cut later. Economists are split, personally i'm in the cut later camp. It's old fashioned Keynesian economics, if the government spends now, it'll put enough money in the economy to kick start it again, through providing employment and buying things from the private sector

I need to read up on the psychology of watching these debates. 'Cos I read how well DC is doing, but my perception is completely different. Is it possible to view these things objectively?
