Find out how powerful your vote is compared to the UK average

I live in a safe seat, my vote is worthless.

Mine is VERY safe Labour seat. There are about 20% more voters in this consituency than the average, which is odd, because I never thought of it being a particularly residential area. Hm. And, 55% of the people did not vote for the candidate in the 2005 election. First Past the Post sucks.

glasgowlass · 09/04/2010 13:10

Prosecco I am in the same constituency as you!!

My vote is worth 0.017, rank 595 of 650 and an ultra safe seat. Still voting anyway!

dhruvisintheheart · 09/04/2010 13:10

Mine doesn't exist either and I've tried it every which way. I had to put in the constituency name instead.

Ewe · 09/04/2010 13:08

0.025

Ultra safe tory seat, always has been, suspect it always will be. Though he is currently in hiding so it's possible the bad press might have shaved some numbers off of his massive majority!

My postcode also didn't exist till I put it in capitals and with the space in between the 2 parts."

wubblybubbly · 09/04/2010 13:02

Nope, that postcode isn't listed. Nor is that of my GP, library or dentist. My constituency doesn't exist!

LadyPeterWimsey · 09/04/2010 13:01

I got 0.885 and very marginal.

I guess my vote is worth something. I wonder if we're going to get much attention, though, as we are not in the main town in the constituency.

wubblybubbly · 09/04/2010 12:58

We're a fairly safe seat, 0.253, which is just about average (that's the story of my life)

Though not sure how accurate it is, since the constituency it named is not where I live It's brought up a small town about 5 miles away?

I'll try my old postcode, see what it says.

Fennel · 09/04/2010 12:54

ours isn't ultra-safe, a fairly safe lib dem seat, but I don't want to vote for either of the main parties there anyway so in that sense my vote would be worthless if I voted for a party I actually wanted.

SweetGrapes · 09/04/2010 12:53

My postcode also didn't exist till I put it in capitals and with the space in between the 2 parts.

Now I find I have .835 of a vote!

paisleyleaf · 09/04/2010 12:50

Voter power 0.030
It's depressing really isn't it. Around half the voters in my area did not vote for the winning candidate.

MerlinsBeard · 09/04/2010 12:50

0.126 here in a lib dem seat (if that is what the yellow men mean!)

Surprisingly large amount of voters though - i thought it would be less.

Number of voters: 62,996

Average constituency: 68,433

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 09/04/2010 12:47

My constituency and postcode apparently don't exist Bit worrying!

Granny23 · 09/04/2010 12:46

My constituency is ranked 37 and rated very marginal. However, I have only 0.825 of a vote because it is a huge one - 70,732 voters. Which might explain why there is little chance of a candidate appearing on YOUR doorstep.

MerlinsBeard · 09/04/2010 12:44

The average UK voter has 2x more power than voters in [town where i live]

Molesworth · 09/04/2010 12:44

Surprised to discover that my constituency is only a 'fairly safe' tory seat. I thought it would be the toriest seat in the country!

wastwinsetandpearls · 09/04/2010 12:43

I am in a fairly safe tory seat, is is between them and the lib dems.

Nemain · 09/04/2010 12:42

Also I found out recently that my town is a so-called 'weathervane constituency' and we have backed the winning Party at every General Election since 1964.

Rindercella · 09/04/2010 12:40

Another ultra-safe Tory seat here - 378th out of 650. How come so many of us live in safe Tory seats?

MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 09/04/2010 12:39

Our MP only has a 'fairly safe' seat so fingers crossed!

Nemain · 09/04/2010 12:38

We are ranked #50 out of 650 and I have vote power of 0.778.

"Voters in [my town] have 3.08x more voting power than the UK average."

scrappydappydoo · 09/04/2010 12:38

Very low - 0.028! Ultra safe
Not sure if I'll bother now... on the fence anyway...

oricella · 09/04/2010 12:37

0.012 doesn't get much safer than that..

Not allowed to vote here though, and will be voting elsewhere the month after, as I know that with PR my vote WILL actually count, regardless of where I live

IMoveTheStars · 09/04/2010 12:36

Yes, I know - I'm a muppet and read the page wrong!!

I have the equivalent of 0.051 of a vote!!

Noah can't imagine that ever happening round these parts though, people would be v unimpressed

iloveasylumseekers · 09/04/2010 12:35

ultra safe tory seat
