I won't be voting Tory because...

Because like so many others, I remember the last time.

Because I think it is government by the rich, for the rich, and everyone else can go hang.

Because I fundamentally disagree with their world-view.

Because I don't think there is a single one of them with any inkling that for some people, it's not just a matter of trying harder and life will be great- we're never all going to be 'entrepreneurs'.

Because I think public services matter, and the tories seem to think they exist only as a drain on the disposable income of the wealthy.

It goes against all I believe in. I CANNOT vote Tory, it would physically hurt!

Having emailed Liam Fox about defence issues, I got a straight answer about what I wanted to know.

Did any one notice yesterday that Mandelson was hinting at income tax rises post election?

I wouldn't vote Tory because of my fear of what they'd do if they got in, still remember how bad Thatcher was and don't think they're any different etc etc BUT even without all that I'd be tempted not to because they're just so annoying!

Any time any of them speak it seems obvious to me all they care about is themselves and their cronies, all they do is try and flash smiles and if anyone asks about their policies they get really evasive and even start saying that's for revealing after the election! As if we're children who don't need to know! Their party line right now seems to be nothing more than 'vote for us because we're better than Labour' which is pathetic.

I'll be voting Lib Dem - yes, they can promise the earth because they won't have to deliver on it but it's not just a purely national issue - locally where I am things got so much better the day we got a Lib Dem mp that I can't help thinking if they've won my trust locally, their national policies sound good (regardless of actual intent) then they can happily have my vote.

Also annoyed with the 'main 2' for constantly ramming it down everyone's throats that it's a choice between them when that's insulting the system. If everyone voted for another party changes would be made (and it would be hilarious to see) - I know practically that won't happen but that's the choice of the voters not an automatic certainty. But that's another rant

Have you seen what the current government have done to our economy and no matter how much they blame the bankers and the rest of the world one of the biggest feck ups they made is not regulating the system properly taking the responsibility away fron the Bank of England and giving it to the FSA but populating the FSA with the same dullards who couldn't do the job properly at the Bank of England!

Labour are not publicising the cuts they will HAVE to make to get the economy back on track, the Greens and the BNP don't have workable economical policies as they put other issues infront of the ones that matter and the Lib Dems can promise what the feck they like to get people to vote because they have a cat in hells chance of getting in and having to implemant the policies.

Our kids will be spouting the line about not voting Labour as they grew up in this era - it goes round and round and round and the best thing we can all do is put the wheels in motion for a change of government and really the only one that we are likely to get other than the bunch of useless prats in at the moment are the Tories.

That'll be the Labour non-doms as well then expat?

I can remember the last Labour govt - I was 13 when Mrs T came to power, and I would not vote Labour because this lot are like the Callaghan govt except it has taken longer to implode. NuLabour was just Old Labour with a smiley face. They are still in thrall to the Unions and still resent those who create money. They are still taxing people 'until the pips squeak' using indirect taxes to achieve this.

Tethersend: given that we have a proven liar masquerading as Prime Minister of our country and given that he and his policies have pushed us into an economic maelstrom which may result in all of us ending up in the toilet, why is it laughable to vote conservative?

This country deserves better than being fed the lies and spin that are regurgitated on almost a daily basis now by certain elements of the labour govt (aided and abetted by that bastion of "impartiality" the BBC) I think that Cameron deserves a chance. I hope he gets it and proves his critics on here and elsewhere wrong

Skihorse - very good point. It's unfortunate that no one on here (myself included) is old enough to remember what happened to cause "the last time". But FGS you can all see it happening again in front of your eyes and you're still in denial!

I've voted Lib Dem or Green in the past, however, this time I will be voting Tory - without much enthusiasm. Gordon Brown has wrecked our economy; he refuses to acknowledge how serious our economic situation is at present or how he intends to deal with our frightening large national deficit. I wish he had the honesty to admit that the banking crisis was, in part, caused by his failure to regulate the banks properly. He was actually quite happy to turn a blind eye to what the banks were doing during the boom years as they provided huge tax revenues for him to fritter away.

The prospect of another five years of him as PM is too awful to contemplate (especially with his side kick, Ed Balls, as Chancellor). I have toyed with idea of voting Lib Dem again, however, I think if there is a hung parliament they are more likely to form a coalition government with Labour which means we might be stuck with him for another five long years - he has already made it quite clear that he will not do the decent thing and resign if there is a hung parliament. The Labour party have made three attempts to get rid of him and have failed, so as far I'm concerned the only way of ensuring he is ejected from No 10 is to vote Conservative on 6th May.

I too, remember the last time the Tories were in power, whole commmunities were destroyed. Whilst I haven't agreed with all the regenration plans that have been initiated since 1997, I can say that my local area, which would be regarded as an area of deprivation, the local environment has improved greatly

When Labour came into power in 1997, they stuck by Tory spending plans for the first two years. My mum, a pensioner received a whole £1 increase in her pension. Labour have provided better increases in state pension, winter fuel allowances and Free telvision licences over the age of 75.

I'm also worried about the Tories' policy on Northern Ireland - so called secret meetings with Lord Cranborne and both unionist parties in January 2010 doesn't fill me with confidence that Cameron will act fairly for all communities in NI.

Lastly, like many mums, I am exceptionally grateful to the services provided by Sure Start. I had no support networks in London when my son was born. Sure Start and their facilities were as important to me as they were to my son. Through Sure Start, I meet people who lived in my locality and made several women, who will be life-long friends.

I don't like, or agree with everything Labour have done - who does, but I can't think of any policies that the Conservative party have told us to date that I could recommend.

Does anyone who won't be voting Tory because they can "remember the last time" think of any logical explanation as to why the Tories might have needed to make cuts.

Here are a few clue words and phrases to help fill any gaps in knowledge or memory: Labour, IMF, cap in hand.

I won't vote Tory because they do nothing for the higher income tax bracket.

On papaer they are for me...higher rate tax payer, self employed, DC in private school, private health insurance etc etc...

And most of all my life long allegiance to the Labour party has been utterly squandered by Gordon, Ed et al. Bunch of complete fascist dictators.

Still I can't see myself voting Tory. There's all those old memories ( my Dad was a miner) and the fact that he is being so bloody woolly. DC has said almost nothing about anything.

Actually I will be. Mainly because Brownfinger has singlehandedly ruined our economy over the last 13 years.

When times were good he should have being squirrelling away for a rainy day because they always come. He was so arrogant to even think that he could put an end to boom and bust. All he did was delay the first bust so it built such momentum and came crashing down around us.

If there was such a thing as a crime against the economy that man has committed it.

No party will be able to sustain the sheer level of waste that is flushing through the country at the moment. Cuts will be made services will be worse than decimated but the Brown man has made it clear that he has no idea how financial markets work. He is not to be trusted.

Just remember that all the services you want to hang on to are not free. We're all paying for them.

I love the Sure Start scheme, too and I would be gutted if that got axed

Because Torys don't care about anyone who can't care for themselves - no such thing as society, makes me sick!!!!!

I could go on forever about why I wouldn't vote for them - I actually cannot think of one single reason why I would......

Because I don't trust them with the economy

Because I generally oppose their world view so wouldn't trust them to make any decisions for my country

Because I love surestart too!

But mostly because I would rather die than vote Tory...
