What do with think will be in Labour’s budget?

They don’t seem to be giving much away but any indication that they might help kickstart the economy or are we just going to get £2 bus fares, £45 off our elec bill a year and petrol prices on google map? None of Labour polices seem to help anyone that is really struggling but isn’t in receipt of UC! I’m speaking as a single mother who is trying to sell a property to move on with my life but can’t. Yes I know I’ve very fortunate to have bricks and mortar but that doesn’t mean I’m loaded (because the property isn’t worth much)! I feel like everyone is expecting the chancellor pull a rabbit out of a hat but I think we’ll all be very disappointed/pissed off!

we need the right kind of immigration, ie doctors and engineers to fill skill shortages. We don’t need just eat delivery cyclists nor dodgy kebab shop cooks. How many doctors and engineers have come here by dingy?

You recognise that once settled (most asylum applications are successful) then migrants have a net benefit effect on the economy?

People want to work and contribute. Our birth rate is in decline and we need workers.

You've neatly ignored my point about education around rape. We educate white British children around sexual assault too, does that make them rapists?

Are they? Could you support your assertion please.

Also, you ignore the qualitative angle with respect to immigrants.

I don't give a flying fig if "boat crossings are going down" we have already have 20,478 arrive this year between 1st Jan and 5th October. That is equal to the population of Goole (East Riding of Yorkshire) or Alton (Hants) or Farnham (Surrey) or Stamford (Lincs).
These are undocumented young men, many of whom don't speak English and are a net drain on the economy. From 2018 to 2025, nationals of six countries accounted for 65% of all arrivals – Iran (16%), Afghanistan (14%), Iraq (10%), Eritrea (10%), Albania (8%), and Syria (8%).
The Home Office and Ministry of Justice spend roughly £4.9 billion per year on the overall asylum system, with around £2.7 billion dedicated directly to asylum accommodation.
This level of migration is unsustainable.
The government won't publish statistics on Migrants and Sex Crimes - despite several FOE requests - I wonder why?
What they have done is compile a leaflet specifically telling 'new arrivals' not to sexually assault and rape women.women, which says it all.

@Catsandcheeseyou know we educate young people not to rape others too? Does that indicate that all young people are rapists?

We are not at war. Words like invasion are used to whip you in to a frenzy. Boat crossings are going down, migration is going down. That doesn't fit your narrative though does it.

I’m sorry I have no idea what you mean. I may have misunderstood your post then, not sure.
Edited to add I don’t think you made the original post I objected to, sounds like we are on the same page?

@VeganConvertyou keep asking me questions, because for some reason you can’t fathom people can and do abuse the system! I reply to them and then you respond with another ‘what if’! People abuse the system and me and many others in the squeezed middle are sick of working hard and having more money taken off ourselves to pay for people’s lifestyle choices! I don’t seem overly distressed, I’m pointing out facts! I mention my mental health because sitting at home living off the state and doing nothing is not going to do anything for your state of mind.

If you read my replies again you will see I acknowledge there will always be a small level of fraud. I would guess though that fraud related to PIP/DLA is the most unlikely type of benefit fraud as it’s a rigorous process and you need evidence from professionals.

You may have to accept that there are factors you perhaps are unaware of when trying to work out the disability status of the person you refer to. Only their doctors etc would be able to validate their condition. I understand your frustration that what you see may not align with your idea of who should qualify for disability benefits but sometimes it’s better to try to not get swamped by the constant need to compare as you are just going to make your own MH worse.

@Badbadbunnyyou don’t need to tell me that! It’s @VeganConvertwho seems to feel sorry for them!

Whenever someone uses the phrase “educate yourself” I write them off immediately. Immediately .

No skin off my nose mate. 😂

@VeganConvertif their mental health is that severe why keep having children? I have severe mental health issues, I work full time and evenings and weekends! Is it really hard to comprehend that many people do abuse the benefits system?

They keep having children because they get more benefits. It's obviously a lifestyle choice and popping out another perpetuates the gravy train.

I'll spell it out to you.
Labour used to be the party of the working man (or woman). Now it is the party of the work-shy.
Sorry if facts upset you.

Nail on the head. There was a clue in the name The "Labour" party, but now perhaps it needs to rename itself the "Bone Idle" party.

@Electra10Ethe Labour Party openly admitted that every meeting is ‘who can we tax next’! There is no incentive to want to work or do better! Also, the arrogance of the Labour Party at the moment is they think the next election is in the bag! I’m not sure this will be the case!

Next target for the Envy Party.

The number of people holding more than £1mn in their Isa has risen by more than 50 per cent in a single year, as years of tax-free investment growth have helped swell the ranks of stock-and-shares Isa millionaires.

Around 7,730 Isa investors had more than £1mn in their Isas at the end of April 2024, up from the 5,070 in the previous tax year, according to the latest HM Revenue & Customs data obtained via two separate freedom of information requests.

Tax, tax, tax tax, tax, tax. I think we will have the third consecutive massive tax rising budget. They have had a whole year of meetings to think of new ways to tax people to pay more benefits/

….and spend….

On their welfare clients.

@VeganConvertweird that the person I’m talking about is a man and it was so severe they were able to organise getting their whole house decorated, turn up to a kid’s birthday party etc etc! Also, if your mental health is so severe you’d forget to take meds, how would you be allowed to look after five kids - including a new born? Make it make sense!

Obviously I’m not a medical professional of the person involved so would be impossible and also wrong for me to have an opinion on their circumstances.

It is clearly causing you a lot of distress and I mean this with kindness but have you , given you have severe MH issues thought about applying for PIP or other support for yourself?

Could it be that their MH is so severe they are not taking contraceptives regularly? Could be many reasons . I don’t doubt there is some level of benefit fraud but it’s extremely difficult to commit fraud for DLA/PIP as you need so much medical
evidence.

@VeganConvertwell they do! One of them receives PIP for mental health issues!

If they receive PIP for MH it must be severe as PIP is not easy to get , you have to provide copious amounts of evidence and be assessed.
