Honestly, how embarrassing for Green party members/voters.

Board of Deputies president Phil Rosenberg said a vote passed by 118 votes to one to declare that the Greens had, "by adopting an antisemitic platform, become a racist party".

The motion passed by the Board of Deputies, external urged other parties not to do deals with the Greens unless they rejected the policy.

Forming coalition deals with Greens at local or national level would be "failing to take antisemitism with the requisite seriousness", it said, unless the party's local leadership have rejected the policy and committed to overturn it.

"By adopting an antisemitic platform, the Green Party of England and Wales has become a racist party. We will treat it accordingly.

"No political party has the right to tell Jews that a central part of our identity, rooted in thousands of years of history, faith and peoplehood, is racist.

"The Green Party's policy brands much of our community, including our synagogues and communal organisations, with that slur. It gives prejudice against Jews a political licence.

"The Green Party's leadership must now take responsibility for reversing this policy and confronting the antisemitism it has legitimised."

I love the idea that the Scottish Greens somehow get a say on Israel's Law of Return. It's like the Likud party having an official policy on the Scottish tax system or something.

I say this as someone who has voted Scottish Green before, back when they were less openly insane. I know that down south Labour councils are threatening to end power sharing arrangements with the Greens, I wonder if the same thing will happen in Scotland.

PurpleThistle7 · 25/10/2026 15:38

So is the idea that Hamas is actually the government of Palestine? And therefore subject to the same scrutiny of Netanyahu is for Israel? Cause the endless reminders that Hamas == Palestine while also being the elected representatives of Palestine while also being a terrorist group is super confusing.

I really hate the Green Party. Totally preoccupied on making friends with terrorists while potholes multiply and school violence (here! Right here! In this country!) is out of control and no one’s bins are ever picked up on the right date. All very difficult to figure out what they think their job is.

Neverstopwondering · 25/10/2026 15:19

Have seen many mumsnet posters in the last three years not only side on everything with Hamas. Quote without question their figures or properganda. Also a a fair few whist talking with them basically say Hitler was right about Jews without actually being honest and writing their real thoughts openly.

Not at all surprising some rather hateful people in political parties think the same way.

Twiglets1 · 25/10/2026 14:48

Fancy siding with Hamas and still thinking you are on the "right side".

Turns out the Scottish greens aren't any better.

https://www.thetimes.com/uk/scotland/article/hamas-political-wing-terror-group-ross-greer-greens-dqdl66gbz

The official policy, a copy of which has been obtained by The Times in what is known internally as a policy reference document, states: “We call for the removal of Hamas from the designation as a terrorist organisation and seek to work with all parties who can contribute to the end of the occupation of Palestine by non-military means.”
It also condemns “Zionism as a racist ideology based on Jewish supremacy in Palestine” and calls for “the unconditional release of all Palestinian political prisoners from Israeli jails”, which in practice is likely to mean the release of Hamas terrorists.
The policy backs the repeal of Israel’s “law of return” for Jews, which grants all Jews the right to settle in the country, branding it discriminatory despite it being designed in 1950 to ensure members of the minority group had a safe haven in the wake of the Holocaust.

Verifying Device

To me it is academic what the Greens think . The real issue is how is the world going to get the Israelis and the Palestinians to co-exist alongside each other in peace. BOTH sides need to forget the history and put it aside and work towards securing a peace for themselves, their families and their grandchildren otherwise this conflict will still be being fought in 50 years time, do they really want that. Neither side is going to "win" this conflict, history tells them that. It is unrealistic for Israel to believe they can annihilate the Palestinians (were the Israelis annihilated after WW2?) and everyone has long memories and so far nobody forgets what the other side has done to them and promises revenge. It will only stop if both sides accept the others right to exist but at the same time cease trying to harm each other with missiles and rhetoric.

Yes, those riots were also ghastly and nihilistic and included a lot of looting, just like in France now. Hackney Greens must be really deluded to see anything positive and inspirational about this kind of behaviour.

The Greens are deluded about so many things these days I can't keep track

As other people have said it would be amusing some of the stuff they spout if the implications were not so scary

5MinuteArgument · 24/10/2026 17:36

I mean it isn't like Hackney hasn't had an issue with rioting before

But if you use rhetoric that accuses people of being ' baby killers' when they don't align exactly with your views then you need to be aware that there are mentally ill people and the gullible who follow you and listen to what you say, so when they see someone you have demonised, family friend or not, they feel justified in murdering a politician/attempting to murder a politician) taking a hammer to a policewoman back etc etc because after all, these people are ' murderers and baby killers.

Agree - whilst completely forgetting about the children that were also slaughtered on October 7 - almost as though their murders were somehow justifiable because they weren’t Gazan.
Sickening.

Yes, this rioting seems particularly nihilistic and destructive. It seems to reflect the incoherent rage of our time. Hackney Green Council are being really naive in encouraging this.

Look at the objection at Palestine Action being classed as terrorists. Then you've got the likes of Thunberg, who is a slightly more obnoxious version of Owen Jones. I'd ship both of them so far away from politics if I had my way.

5MinuteArgument · 24/10/2026 10:30

Douglasmummy · 23/10/2026 22:42

These people always try to distance themselves afterwards with ' Oh that's not what we meant' as if thugs and agitators care about what they really meant in their heads. It will be Hackney Green council who will have to find the money to fix the damage caused if people turn up and trash the place. I hope they don't put out the begging bowl to government after they have encouraged people to riot, set things alight and loot shops.

Yes, a toxic climate is being created, and it's especially dangerous for anyone on the right.

LizzieW1969 · 20/10/2026 10:38

Let’s not assume this attack is politically motivated. According to the latest news, the MP is a longstanding family friend and the attacker has had long-term mental health issues.

It isn't straightforward at all, even if he is an anti-Israel activist, which I'm not questioning.

Whilst I was making dinner I listened to a Tory MP getting interviewed about various things. One of the things he spoke about was how appalled he was that the Hackney Greens put on social media and message promoting riots here. Apparently they said how inspiring what is happening in France was and that people should join them on an austerity march that is going to happen.

Inspiring! Can't say I have ever found burning down schools, looting small businesses that are people's livelihoods or injuring 500 police officers just doing their job an inspiring thing.

These people are psychologically unfit and a danger to society. At some point the way they are going never mind Pal action, we will be listing the Green Party as a terrorist group.

That's depressing. Universities are particularly left wing environments though.

I suppose we won't know until the next elections, but I really do sense a lot of voters are turning away from the Green party over this issue. Just hope I'm right and not deluding myself.

I just said on another thread, how I cannot understand how education and health establishments continue to get away with this unlawful action. I know it is being addressed in the NHS, but these student and teaching unions need to be sorted out. Their ignorance and arrogance is flying in the face of equality.

Yes I would have considered myself left wing in the past, now I would say I'm centrist.

Also feel politically homeless as Labour seem too Left and the Conservatives seem too Right. Still I will end up voting for one of the two at the next GE.

I voted Labour locally for a little while now as I like the specific people. So I guess that’s where I’ll end up. Funny how a few years ago I was concerned about their antisemitism habits. Feels quite innocuous now.

I always considered ‘myself’ one of the particularly left wings but I don’t think they want me anymore. Pretty lost politically now.

Not biting anyone here. The green reps are all over the union at my university and everyone cheers. I don’t think this is the shot in the foot everyone might have thought.

Well, that says a lot about the university. Throwing Jews under the bus? No problem.
