Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I am not here to defend the Greens. Start a thread on the Greens' issues if you like. This is a thread about Reform.

But you said "at this stage of the game, anyone who is a Reform voter is either a racist or doesn't care about racism. There is no hiding place.". I just dont think thats true as as far.as I know racism isnt actually Reform policy. Unlike the Greens.

You can whatabout all you like. I am not pandering to Reform voters in case I upset them. If they can't take the truth, tough. Reform is a toxic infection on the UK and needs cutting out.

Im not a Reform voter though. I just like to be factual about these sorts of things. Racism is Green policy. Is racism Reform policy?.

Its actual policiy though. So if youre still a member of the party thats what you support.

I agree with all of this.

It is also worth pointing out that many Labour members vocally called out the party over anti semitism, and many left the party over it. Many Conservatives did the same over partygate. In both cases, there was a leadership change.

One of the things that troubles me most about Reform is there is an extremely vocal element of their support who will deflect and cry stitch up, rather than condemn abhorrent behaviour, and never seem to demand the leadership be held accountable for it. That doesnโ€™t feel like a serious political party, capable of governing the national interest.

This is very true. And plenty of Green Party members have spoken out about that antisemitic new policy.

I've considered voting for them in the past, and close family members and friends have regularly voted for them. But theyโ€™re definitely not an option for me until they ditch that policy.

SubstandardMotelsOnTheLa · 19/10/2026 09:15

Pineneedlesincarpet · 19/10/2026 09:12

In fact Anti Semitism is actually Green policy whereas racisim isn't Reform policy.

I would not consider voting Green after that motion was passed. But plenty of Green party members opposed it and have spoken out about it.

Well thats not true. Thats like saying anyone who votes Green is a raging anti semite. Is that true too? Maybe it is.

The programme literally showed elected Reform officials confirming that they would tone down their views to get themselves elected and that they could do whatever they liked once in power.

It also showed Farage himself failing to tackle racism decisively, even when it was blindingly obvious to party staff that specific individuals were a liability because of their racism.

I don't understand your comments about the media being able to manipulate the situation to make the innocent seem guilty... how can you manipulate someone into making disgusting racist comments and what sort of "context" would make such comments OK?

Starmer did apologise for appointing Mandelson, who was not a "known paedophile" when he was appointed, and he effectively lost his job over it. And Labour has also apologised to victims of the grooming gangs for their part in failing to tackle the issue, though the failure wasn't theirs alone.

Your post looks rather like you are trying to excuse and minimise Reform's racism and sexism, and to deflect from it with a bit of good old-fashioned whataboutery.

Nice try, but it isn't really working.

Not really. And no need to lash out. I'm simply being pedantic about what Mandelson has or has not been accused of. No apologist for him but I don't think potentially defaming someone who already has a fair bit of dirt on him is necessarily a good idea.

That's not a tribal view btw. I'm a Conservative voter as I've mentioned upthread. I just think if we accuse politicians of bad behavior we should be right in what we say.

The "correction" wasn't necessary as I made no such claim - I was correcting the earlier assertion of a pp.

I agree that defamation is unacceptable and I expect that you will join me in condemning @Traveller1987 for doing so.

You didn't correct the earlier post though. Regarding Mandelson being accused of being a paedophile. You replied to the PP who said "appointing a potentially know pedophile into the office of US ambassador" by saying "Starmer did apologise for appointing Mandelson, who was not a "known paedophile" when he was appointed, and he effectively lost his job over it."

I'd suggest there's sufficient ambiguity in that sentence to imply that when he was appointed that he wasnt a known paedophile. But that he was later discovered to be a paedophile. So I just wanted to clarify that he wasnt accused of being a paedophile just so you don't get accused of defamation. No need to thank me. I'm happy to help.

I just corrected you and posted that Mandelson wasnt accused of being a paedophile! Which is true. Thats all! Why the attack? How can I whataboutery that? Find someone else from another party that also hasnt been accused of being a paedophile?

Important not to defame people.

There's a very simple way to avoid being described as a racist, sexist, misogynist, incestuous corrupt piece of shit: don't be one.

Also don't be a pathetic apologist for them.

And do you have any comment on the racism and the sexism in Reform? Or the frankly disturbing "jokes" about paedophilia?

Or are you just here for the whataboutery as well?

Re the grooming gangs, what I find doesn't add up is that I don't recall any mention of them from Reform, or the Tories particularly, before Labour came to power in 2024. It's been an issue for much longer than that, prosecutions happened in 2014 and it first talked about during the 2000s.

Why only during the last two years? It smacks of political opportunism not concern about VAWG.

Nope. Your opinion on this appears skewed. Regardless of editing, those vile, disgusting words came out of their mouths.
Middle aged men perving over teenagers, and you are ok with this? You think those people represent you. They don't represent me.
I have nothing but contempt and disgust for them and their enablers.
