Reform lost 6 by elections this week ๐ŸŽ‰

Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I assume, they will exercise their right to protest, and that some of those protests would not remain peaceful.

I also think should that happen, they should then face the consequences for that.

But bowing down to racists should not be a political strategy, and it shouldnโ€™t be done out of fear of repercussions otherwise.

We should be stamping down on racism, not giving it airtime or pandering to it in case it kicks off.

Exactly. Appeasement has been tried in the past. If you give in, the extremists will just demand more, and more, and more. That goes for extremists on both sides of the political divide, it's human nature.

Im casually chewing the fat on MN with people who are opposed to the arguments that I am making. Not splitting the right wing vote ๐Ÿคฃ

I think your next paragraph doesn't deserve an answer.

Last line...good. I hope the voters come to the Conservatives.

Are you saying the misogyny, racism and treason embedded in Reform UK doesn't need talking about?๐Ÿคฏ
Or that you just don't want to face it and address it?๐Ÿค”
Or that it doesn't matter to you because you'll excuse anything if the person is right wing like you?๐Ÿซค

Your conversational circle is seeming more rarified with every post you make.

Raise your standards. You don't have to subject yourself to hatefilled, racist, misogyny to the point you make an eejit of yourself normalising it and defending the indefensible. Call it out. Try making things better rather than accepting this shit.

If they cant vote for a party that says quite firmly it will control immigration but is otherwise mainstream what do you think tbey might do to express their political views? Assuming they want to get involved?

Because you are contributing to the right wing split.

And demonstrating your willingness to throw UK women, racial and religious minorities, the disabled and the poor and the country under the bus for RW ideology rather than vote for a better future for the whole country. Driving moderate right wingers towards the only(?) centrist party left. The Labour Party.๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Reform UK are falling in the polls.

@Pineneedlesincarpet

I find your earlier comments about some people inevitably being racist and needing someone to vote for, honestly quite strange.

I donโ€™t think racists should be politically represented. I donโ€™t think they should have a party to vote for. Because that would involve them having someone who represents their racist ideals and I would prefer we didnโ€™t have racists in power.

I believe racists, rather than having anyone hear their views, should be politically homeless and told that their racist views are disgusting, and as a country we wonโ€™t tolerate it.

(I am referring to racists. Not โ€œconcerned citizens,โ€ or people with legitimate immigration concerns who I believe do exist and are not all racists.)

How?

I just don't like sweeping generalisations. Unfortunately for me I can always see the other side of an argument. We could just spend the thread slagging Reform off but wheres the interest in that? Reform are high in the polls and Id like to discuss why. To dismiss them as "racists" means you dismiss the views of millions of people in this country. They've already affected policy of the main two parties. They can't be written off.

Because you are contributing to the right wing split.

So for VAT you would make life harder for women, immigrants and the most vulnearable.

Pineneedlesincarpet · 16/10/2026 16:53

TopPocketFind · 16/10/2026 16:50

Yes, you would support Reform if it came to that, you have said.

Now, about Afghanistan? What did you mean with your comment?

You edited.
So you wouldn't want to give Afghan women refuge because they might have sons or husbands.

If it was a choice between Rrform and a left wing party it would be hypocritical of me to vote left. I have children at private school for a start

I just explained in my previous post. At 16.46. Edited immediately before I read your last post. Its a fairly obvious point.

Pineneedlesincarpet · 16/10/2026 16:46

May I refer to you my post at 16.22 where I explain why its more interesting to have a discussion as to why Reform arr supported by millions of people rather than a one sided thread slagging them off which is pointless.

Im a conservative voter on the centre right but I am concerned about immigration despite having an immigrant parent so I do support some of their policies. And I think Reform are vital to neuter the far right.

Sorry Afghanistan. Labour are bringing in women from Afghanistan, a highly misogynistic country. So right to family life will enable Afghan men to come to the UK. So Im not sure how tbat supports UK women.

4 out of 5 new jobs, not just jobs.

However, I run an employment business and can tell you that thatโ€™s a difference in willingness to work.

We advertise jobs to everyone, and receive 10 applicants from overseas origin for everyone 1 UK national.

We employ on experience level and suitability, not nationality.

There is no use complaining about jobs being taken if youโ€™re not willing to do any of them.

Very sad

The 4/5 jobs has been debunked several times.

The Times issued a correction and changed their headline accordingly

SleeplessInWherever · 16/10/2026 16:44

Pineneedlesincarpet · 16/10/2026 16:29

Well yes. I want them to vote Tory obvs. But they won't do that. But they will vote.

They hate Labour for the farmers and the squeeze on jobs and the net zero rubbish and that Labour are urban and disconnected from their old base. And they don't like excessive immigration and the fact the jobs are being taken (4 out of 5 jobs since 2010 has gone to an immigrant). So its probably Reform or Restore for them.

They can argue all they like, the evidence shows loud and clear how much they care about women.

Just have a look at their policies.

And women tend to vote less for racist parties.

I think there are a lot of such people. But they don't care about being called racist any more as the term has been overused these last few years and lost its power. Predictably. And unfortunately.

Racist don't consider themselves racist.

And the term most certainly has not been overused.

TopPocketFind · 16/10/2026 16:35

Pineneedlesincarpet · 16/10/2026 16:11

Reform members would presumably argue by clamping down on illegal immigration they will protect women by reducing the number of immigrants from countries where they have different views regarding women to us.

SubstandardMotelsOnTheLa · 16/10/2026 16:26

I might have given Reform supporters the benefit of the doubt at one point. But with all the recent revelations, only people who are OK with racism will continue to support the party.
