Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

https://www.mi5.gov.uk/mi5-director-general-delivers-annual-threat-update

Russia remains aggressor number one,
The other state keen on subcontracting its UK violence is Iran

While the threat level change reflects the whole of the terrorist threat, the recent increase was driven in significant part by Extreme Right-Wing Terrorism. This is a complex landscape, with many subcultures. Over the last year the most marked trend has been an increase in cases where extremist versions of anti-immigration and anti-Muslim grievance are tipping into terrorist intent; weโ€™ve dealt, for example, with would-be terrorists attempting to attack mosques and venues connected to immigration and asylum.

Extreme Right Wing Terrorism also continues to skew young, driven by the internet. A few months ago, MI5 was investigating a radicalised Extreme Right Wing 13-year-old here in the UK.

Islamist terrorism was listed first in you link;

Terrorism...

Thereโ€™s a mix of things going on here. Determined efforts have degraded the leadership of Islamic State, but Al Qaida and Islamic State continue to direct and inspire attacks. MI5 is still having to respond to attempts to carry out mass casualty attacks in the UK. Three Islamist extremists were convicted in February for planning to use automatic weapons against the Jewish community in Manchester...

I didnโ€™t say ONLY extremists. I disagree with Blair and Straw.

Sure, but youโ€™d agree that itโ€™s a mainstream argument, not an extremist one and that acting to curb the influence of the ECHR is not a marker of a โ€œfar rightโ€ government?

Putin is as right wing as they come. That's why Trump and Farage are two of his best puppets friends.

Although Putin was a communist, a member of the KGB and is angry about the break up of the USSR.

Yes but im far more worried about Islamist terrorism than far right terrorism given those figures. Just like in the 80s and 90s I was more worried about the IRA if there was a bombscare or a bomb in London it was likely to be them.

Of course you are.

Anyone who classifies Putin as left wing is completely delusional. Russia is currently a fascist dictatorship.

As I said all are an extreme worry. To shrug off far right terrorisme would be foolish.

About 13% of those currently under active investigation by MI5 are under 18 years old, with extreme right-wing investigations skewing heavily toward minors influenced online

That should give you food for thought.

You really donโ€™t know this. Theyโ€™re not going to make that information public. For obvious reasons.

Because it's total bollocks.

You mean Putinโ€™s goons? That wasnโ€™t right-wing, it was left -wing, a nerve agent developed by the Soviets and deployed by ex-KGB men on the orders of an ex-KGB head of state.

90% of MI5s current terror watch list are Islamist extremists.

Active MI5 cases...75% Islamist extremists

You kept asking about the erosion of rights by extremists (in your language, the โ€œfar rightโ€). I pointed out that if your touchstone for rights is the ECHR then centre-left figures share a view that its operation can properly be, and in Strawโ€™s view should be, curtailed.

I didnโ€™t say ONLY extremists. I disagree with Blair and Straw.

It's all extremists, Islamists, Russians, Far Left, Far Right.

And some of the Reform councillors fall into that last category.

Ok. Well forgive me if its Islamist terrorism that I feel more of a worry given the statistics of who is committing by far the most terrorist offences in the UK in the last few decades. Its not the IRA any more. Which was who I used to worry about.

It's all extremists, Islamists, Russians, Far Left, Far Right.

MI5 threat updates and Home Office statistics.

67% of terrorist attacks have been Islamist since 2018 (obviously, as we can all count). Amd 22% have been extremely right wing terrorists. So three times more Islamist terrorist attacks.

Current MI5 caseload 75% Islamist terrorists. 90% of MI5s watch list are Islamist extremists. (Source UK Parliamentary Committe)
