One of your previous posts stated that polls can’t be used to forecast the outcome of general elections. That so, what’s the value of polls? Particularly taking into account the UK electoral system of first past the post.

I would like to know how polls are audited to ensure they are not biased.

I’ve responded to the OP’s posts throughout, many of which were rather scathing of others in my view. Thus I’d understood the OP’s style as someone who was quite robust, able
to give as good as they got and wouldn’t be offended. You were not scathing no, you were patronising and I responded in kind. I don’t see that as unreasonable, others are free to disagree.

It’s a response to a specific post from the pp. Of course you’re entitled to dislike it or disagree with it, but we could all pull out posts we dislike and complain about them, or we could ignore, or respond to them. No need to read the news with Greyrock around is there? They provide us with a regular stream of updates on their twin flames Andy Burnham and gilt yields. Thank God they’re here to help us understand the importance of the latter and the incompetence of the former. Real public service by a person who… checks notes… left the country to avoid paying taxes they didn’t agree with but hopes to come back when those taxes no longer apply.

Should it have read ' oh dear?
Which is different.
OK dear isn't used unless it's a close relationship and doesn't really convey sympathy it's more of an endearment. Otherwise it is seen as patronising.

Regardless of caps, Angela Rayner suggested yesterday that laws could be backdated to force reform to return recent donations. Likewise, TUC leader, Paul Nowak is pushing for legislation on donations, but says donations from the unions are okay.

Sounds very like double standards.

I am not a supporter of any party. The legislation was always set with the 25th March date, this was intentional to prevent rushed extra donations. The intention of the legislation was widely known.

I'm in favour of donations reform.

I think there should be a ceiling on donations from single individuals.
I'm fine with any auditable collective donating, whether direct to party or via a third party including unions.
I am not sure what I think about donations from campaigning organisations/trusts. There are a small number of these in existence.

Based on your posts, it sounds like you are working for YouGov. Also, sounds like you are not a Reform supporter. Nothing wrong with that as everyone is entitled to choose who they vote for.

However, if those running polls are against Reform, how can the public who read the polls be sure they are not biased? How are polls audited?

You are free to ignore the polls if you feel they are biased. But the fact remains that all the polls have Labour in the lead right now, apart from YouGov which has a tie between Reform and Labour.

The latest date of the next general election is 15 August 2026. So, why not tell people now that on that date the composition of parliament will be decided by what polls say on that date and there will be no need to go to the polling station as before?
