The joy of being right leaning is we can have individual thought and don’t have to sheep along with all our tribe mates for fear of being cancelled and ostracised. It’s wonderful.

Really? There's a good deal.of harmony though isn't there. When that woman was assaulted all the elected leaders had exactly the same spontaneous thought.

Some seem certain it’ll be Labour

I don't think anyone anywhere is certain any of the parties will get a majority.

How do Labour get their previous voters back?

How do the Tories get their previous voters back?

How do Reform ever get above 25%, plus deal with tactical voting?

Agree - nothing is certain

The other interesting metric is a right wing coalition vs a left wing coalition which currently significantly favours a left wing coalition - in addition to the incumbent party having the first shot at forming a coalition

But we will see - GE still a long way away

I have no opinion on landlords. I’ve rented in my life and I had zero problems. I was exceedingly grateful to have a roof over my head. I’m not sitting on television actively representing a party who has anti-landlord policies.

I’ve just looked up the recent interview I was remembering and it’s Green Party co-deputy leader Rachel Millward. She refused to answer on BBC Politics Live whether she was a landlord while defending co-deputy leader Mothin Ali's rental properties.

Background and Context

  • The Interivew: While appearing on the BBC to defend Mothin Ali—who was revealed to own two rental properties in Leeds through a company—Millward repeatedly declined to comment on her own personal housing circumstances.
  • Party Policy: The controversy follows the Green Party's adoption of a policy calling for the "effective abolition of private landlordism and the private rented sector".
  • Revelations: Subsequent reports revealed that Millward earns money letting rooms in her family home as a lodger arrangement, which government guidance classifies under the definition of a landlord, though the party initially stated she was not a landlord and that only her husband owned a separate rented flat.

I did look up whether there were similar Labour politicians pretending to be champions of the ordinary working people, whilst simultaneously earning a wedge passively through property acquisition and it will not surprise you to know that there indeed was.

So in your definition, ordinary working people are not allowed to rent out any property?!

I’m finding myself liking Leila Cunningham. She’s yet to say anything I don’t agree with.

Former CPS is a bit worrying…

Ignore the usual emoji fest. Some seem certain it’ll be Labour, we’ll see.

Whats really telling is that they never post to celebrate Labour’s achievements.

Oh wait….

But now it appears we agree - union members choose to make the political donations so they are individual donations.

You are very good at creating straw man arguments aren’t you? Why don’t you try arguing against the point made? Is it because you know your position is weak?

I think it's possible I don't understand what point you are trying to make.

Signalbox · 15/09/2026 18:18

I interpreted what you said about union members not supporting Labour as you meaning they were not happy for their donation to go to Labour.

I quite like her too, no-one can say she’s not committed. i don’t think her appearances are winning anyone over though, and i see a lot of Reform supporters who dislike her style too. She’s dogged but a bit of a car crash at times.

I am not sure that some of these posts will age well, when the Tories sneak in during the next GE.

How is this going to happen? Which seats, with which votes? Presumably the thinking is they would reclaim Reform votes? Because they won't be getting many from Labour now - the votes that were going to leave Labour have gone - to Greens, to Lib Dems, to Plaid and some to Reform.

The Tories have an issue - the more they court Reform voters the more they risk losing seats to the Lib Dems.

Badenoch's personal numbers are up a bit but no change for the party. The Tories are not budging from 20%.

It's one of the problems in 'not believing in' polling Smile

About 3 months ago Reform were advertising a new post to vet their candidates - think it was new candidates only so their established councillors etc wouldn't be effected

Seemed a bit of an oversight at the time

Interesting job, and missed opportunity for sure.

Oh, but the thread is about Reform - well, that hasn’t stopped a number of you going off-piste.

I think Reform has stolen Conservative voters which is where the problem lies.

I'm not sure how additional funds will stop Reform being attractive to criminals or persuade intelligent competent and decent people to stand for them.
I assume the funds that don't go directly to further enrich Farage will be used to 'campaign', ie spout the same old garbage to a wider audience on a bigger platform.
I'm not sure it will work anyway, because they've had so much exposure that most people know what they're about already. I suppose it could embolden them to spread more lies and misinformation knowing they can afford the legal costs.

So they can relax and keep the law as is, rather than scramble to find more ways to stop it. Labour seem to be sweating about their own political survival.

Efacsen · 15/09/2026 17:49

Reform had a greater surplus last year than any other party.

Do you need to be a professional to not assault or coercively control someone? I’d have thought it was more about character than qualifications.

So, where the excitement is coming from is odd.

The big drop for Reform since May vs. is this a hard number that will never drop now? How hard/soft is their number?

Labour back in the lead, although it's still very close.

It's a hung parliament currently.

Can Reform ever win a majority?

Yes it's a trend - over time

A downward trend

I assume all politicians are on the same salary depending on seniority. I read yesterday that the donations will allow the party ‘to professionalise’ in readiment for government in a couple of years. I’m not sure what that means exactly, but judging from the calibre of local Reform councillors we can all agree it’s a shit show currently.

I see another Reform leader has had to stand down.

Oh yes that's a bad look plus a defection to Plaid.
