Labour supporters are commenting alongside non Labour supporters about Reform on a thread about Reform. If that's your definition of obsession you need to buy a dictionary.
And yes i'm sure you do call it 'frothing'. It's a popular way to belittle women who disagree with you, isn't it?

I’ve seen ‘frothing’ from Labour posters many times. More than in the other direction.

Look at many of the threads on MN - Labour supporters are positively obsessed with Reform. Others might call it ‘frothing’.

Otherwise we both know that Labour are fond of trying to rearrange goalposts. Changing the rules at half time, will not help them.

I recoiled at Rayner of all people, attempting to take the moral high ground yesterday. Brass neck doesn’t begin to describe it.

Frothing- I've never heard that- what is it a reference to?

I don’t really understand why this thread has descended into Labour vs Reform.

The Representation of the People act has cross party support, including from the official opposition.

And polling shows that the vast, vast majority of the public are against these kind of enormous lump sum donations from wealthy individuals: https://www.transparency.org.uk/news/latest-yougov-poll-shows-public-want-end-big-money-politics

I really don’t see how it’s controversial, or party political, to say there should be safeguards in place to prevent who until very recently resided overseas from having undue influence in our democracy.

According to Companies House, Harbourne is resident in Thailand.

Delo has moved back to the UK recently. There is a qualifying period set out in the legislation which he doesn't yet seem to have met?

Delo moved from Hong Kong back to the UK in April 2026

It’s the electoral register.

Is it Woking by any chance? Maybe he can help the council there.

I think the desperation is from Labour.

As to the rest, one thing I can tell you is that there is onshore money which will back Reform - in size. What will Labour try to do about that?

It’s not foreign money. They’re residents here.

Well, yes, but I do think Reform have to be a bit careful about how desperate they seem because the optics of making out that these laws - which apply to all political parties and are being introduced to protect our democracy against foreign interference and untraceable money - are uniquely damaging to them are pretty damning.

It was interesting in the Channel 4 sting that their lack of UK donors was mentioned by Reform

Even their UK born tax-exile donors seem to live overseas too

That, and a subsequent legal challenge.

Reform’s donors have deep pockets - whether Labour like it, or not. This isn’t going away.

That's interesting. So what do you think motivates someone to organise bots and given they are motivated and it's kind of anti women, why would they avoid here?
Just to clarify - I think there are programmes but I believe there are also people/ mechanisms that engage divisively and I'm not certain how these are generated. I'm sure mumsnet is as vigilant as possible.

Edited

Any chance you can start a new thread, so we can return to the thread topic?

Read a thread where similar accusations have been started by pro Labour / left. Mnhq answers and says why. It’s due to lack of traction and lack of algorithms. But if you find a thread you can see their comments on it.

They get more messages from legit posters being accused with a bot claim. Which is why the guidelines now say you can’t do it.

Warmlight1 · 14/09/2026 07:57

EasternStandard · 14/09/2026 07:49

If you’re surrounded by bots on another platform it’s not really relevant to here.

She's not laughing at you. The emoji was for me. Is it ok with you if we lefties laugh? Or do you want to give us a list of approved things to laugh about, to go with your list of approved things to be concerned about?

I couldn’t give a four x - crack on.

Ah- well it makes sense bots - or bad actors- are in Mumsnet if they are in other places. Actually- I've done myself an injustice calling it 'going on' there's nothing wrong with talking about it.
It has been a technique. And probably will continue.

As said mnhq have answered similar threads on this. It’s not the case, but it doesn’t stop the accusations from pro Labour / left.

Warmlight1 · 14/09/2026 07:52

EasternStandard · 14/09/2026 07:44

It’s usually Labour / left posters going on about bots on here if it’s a view they don’t want to see. Mnhq have responded on that.

Thank you for the thought- I'm not referring to mumsnet. I usually just highlight it in the discussion and ignore. It's a long time since I realised it was a right wing technique. Often anti women.

Funny, that.

Besides, I thought the left were more anti-women, no?

No

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 14/09/2026 07:48

Having read a bit more about it, it seems that the retrospective application of the rules was announced in advance — and well before the £72m donations had been discussed — specifically to prevent a rush of people seeking to circumvent the new rules before they came into force. And it also seems that there are clear precedents for this kind of retrospective legislation in the UK.

So I guess that the question of whether or not Reform will be able to accept the donations will depend on whether or not the two donors meet the criteria set out under the new legislation

That, and a subsequent legal challenge.
