I despair of Israel sometimes. I'm pleased our Government has done this. And feel very sorry for Jewish people in this country who will get the fallout from this. But to avoid that, all of us - and especially our politicians and leaders of the British Jewish community - need to clearly and consistently differentiate between calling out the vile policies of the current Israeli government and antisemitism. Israel has conflated the two to suppress criticism.

You don't see why stupid British thugs would set fire to ambulances because Israel is building illegal cities on the West Bank?

You don't see why this might encourage anti-Semitic racists to abuse Jewish children on their way to school?

You don't see why this might cause anyone wearing a kippah to be assaulted?

Of course they shouldn't get any fallout, but they will.
