You had a chance to put a stop to the dodgy little lying, pathetic twat and you blew it.

Now we have to listen to his bollocks and hate inducing garbage for longer.

9,000 people voted for a bin rather than this swindler.

He can’t even bring himself to come to your town to accept the vote. He is laughing at you.

Real “man of the people’ - why can’t you see that he doesn’t give a crap about you or your problems?

Oh well at least the investigation into the £5mill can resume.

What a fucking waste of time and money. Disgusting. Disappointed in you guys. 🙈

I think he’s right leaning but pretty objective on the whole. It’s a hypothesis and one that seems credible to me. It’s certainly ironic that a political party would come up with a policy that would on the face of it do the most electoral damage in the handful of seats where they have sitting MPs.

hedgeknight · 17/08/2026 12:23

You mean that you usually agree with Nelson but not when you support the policy he takes apart?

I could have quoted similar from left wing commentators if that had been easier to disagree with, 'the Left' style.

You used his chart and someone else said it should be listened to.

I didn’t know who he was or if a company, I googled to see the source and he came up as a centre right journalist.

Do you really expect me to answer your questions when you ignore any of the questions asked of you.

This policy is nothing but a vile attempt at distracting from Farage's £5m and other dodgy donations, incl to Jenrick himself.

But that is what Clacton voted for.

Ok. I don’t mind but if you say you don’t agree with the journalist’s take that he’s going for core voters then it’s the same point I’m making anyway.

As much as it’s interesting to see people back centre right writers it creates the wrong impression that who people voted for is known.

Clacton has a high percentage of PIP claimants and a high percentage of Reform voters.

As I also said 'not all' Easy to miss, I know.

Do you not wonder why this policy was announced after the by-election?

Ok so how are you sure on who is voting for what? There could be many reasons for those figures to exist together.

There’s no information about crossover available. The chart is obviously successful in making people think as you have. That’s its journalistic intention.

But for actual information you’d need to survey 18% and ask how they voted.

hedgeknight · 17/08/2026 12:01

EasternStandard · 17/08/2026 11:52

‘Many of them are’

How do you know?

Great thanks as always.

Back to knowing how people on PIP vote, any takers?

BIossomtoes · 17/08/2026 11:53

EasternStandard · 17/08/2026 11:48

Ok so you don’t think he’s right on that?

They’re not his core voters?

Goodness, that’s flawed logic if ever I saw it. Quoting someone isn’t automatic agreement or disagreement. It’s presenting a point of view because it’s interesting.

EasternStandard · 17/08/2026 11:52

hedgeknight · 17/08/2026 11:51

In Clacton, many of them are, not all.

Is that easier to understand?

How about you answering the question if you support the policy?

I quoted Nelson, was that not clear to you?

Where have I said that I believe all people on PIP are Reform voters?

You are making stuff up.

In the same way that you have quoted me? Is there an issue with using the quote function? Is it not allowed?

I only quote sometimes back to you. If you didn’t quote first we’d never engage. Wouldn’t that be.. something 😀

AnitaCam · 17/08/2026 11:46

I feel very sorry for Farage. Anne widdecombes murder has clearly shaken him badly, and he is receiving death threats. I hope he can keep going. I’m glad his constituency stood by him.

EasternStandard · 17/08/2026 11:45

I’m asking the pp who believes it thanks.

If it’s believed and repeated I’m wondering why. No one can say how the 18% voted.

As for Nelson, a centre right journalist, whilst I’m pleased the left have new found respect for him, I’d say he’s coming at this from his own angle.

Meaning?

Ask Fraser Nelson, he’s the one who said it. When you get a right leaning journalist making a critique like this, backed up with statistical evidence, it’s sensible to give it credence.

EasternStandard · 17/08/2026 11:38

hedgeknight · 17/08/2026 11:37

Ah well, you seem to be reading things that aren't being said.

I can only assume that you are in favour of these propsals @EasternStandard ?

Yet again, I repeat. Of course not everyone on benefits in Reform areas will vote Reform. But there will be a proportion who do.

I very much hope you will also be as rigorous in challenging the assumptions that Labour's core support is benefit recipients. But I bet you won't. Now, I will let you have the last word as is your wont.😊

hedgeknight · 17/08/2026 11:31

Where have I said that?

In the post below not that long ago. The chart showing PIP numbers.

If you don’t know how 18% voted there’s not much of a story in it is there?

Poor use of information and narrative building. Unless you ask PIP claimants directly who they voted for you can’t make claims about ‘taking on their core voters’.

TemperanceWest · 17/08/2026 11:32

EasternStandard · 17/08/2026 11:21

Of course people have the agency to vote. The mistake from the Times, the charts and those who amplify them is an assumption on who they voted for.

It’s not known. Unless they survey specifically to 18% PIP claimants Clacton.
