The focus is on Reform because they keep doing corrupt things. The media have not been kind to Labour or the Tories - Boris Johnson was (rightly) hauled over the coals and forced to resign, Starmer’s every move was scrutinised and he was forced to resign. Why should Reform not face scrutiny when they have done nothing but bray for it for other parties?

Reform are little more than a bunch of the scared and the lonely being led up the garden path by public school Del Boys. It’s like a shit cult without the sex and religion (except a bit of flag waving for St. George, venerated by both Catholics and Muslims - a truly inclusive saint indeed).

Predictable. These things are being deliberately caused, I don’t care what anyone says. They’re too convenient. A month or two before elections in Germany, an Islamist drives at an LGBT crowd and it gets called an attack on freedoms when there is strong anti Islam sentiment across Europe and the far right parties everywhere get to weaponise it.

It wouldn’t at all surprise me if people are being deliberately radicalised for political gain. It will just confirm what the Great Replacement conspiracy theorists already believe.

Well if you are merely a front for something, then you may be unaware of all the intricacies. I mean personally I wouldn't feel comfortable telling the world I wasn't a great businessman, but heigh ho, I'm not a slimy tax exile who wants to see Sharia law in the UK.

According to the BBC article in the OP, the BBC were following up a Guardian report on two payments by Tice's Britain Means Business company to Reform in 2024, when Tice was Reform chairman.

The Guardian reported that the two payments from Britain Means Britain were among four flagged to the National Crime Agency as part of its Suspicious Activity Reports programme. (The other two flagged payments were made to Reform directly by Fiona Cottrell and were reported on by The Times.)

The BBC then approached the Met and asked for comment:

Asked about the donations from Britain Means Business, the Met repeated a statement originally issued earlier this month after The Times's investigation.

A spokesperson said: "An investigation was launched in February 2025 after a referral was made to the Metropolitan Police by the Electoral Commission relating to donations made to a political party ahead of the 2024 UK General Election."

They added: "Detectives from the Met's Special Enquiry Team are investigating alleged offences under Section 61 of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.

"Early investigative advice has been sought from the Crown Prosecution Service and two people have so far been interviewed under caution. No arrests have been made.

"An offence under this section is not one that the Electoral Commission can investigate and, as such, it is a matter for the police."
