Lets stick to the facts that a man has been charged by police with horrifically killing Ann Widdecombe.

The motive has not yet been established but it has been stated that this was a targeted attack meaning it was either personal or political.

The details of the case including the motive are unlikely to be known before his trial in June 2027.

If a shadowy someone wanted Ann out of the picture then a push down the dormer stairs would’ve sufficed - look at how desperate people were to believe she had fallen and died of old age and frailty. If it was a reform murder to shore up Nigel’s dodgy money for ‘security’ then a local yokel could’ve been set up far more easily than some sad sack from Rotherham. I wouldn’t be surprised if some dodgy fuck online gave him her address and encouraged him to do it but I doubt very much it was an evil mastermind. People want conspiracies because it makes senseless things make sense.

I think it's a mistake to assume that conspiracy theorists or people making other outlandish claims fall into neat 'left' or 'right' wing boxes- I worked with a woman who believed most conspiracy theories, her views were all over the place politically and at best I would describe her as 'anti-establishment'. For e.g. one of her opinions was that Iran and Donald Trump were actually co-operating as part of the war with the deep state.

Her basic starting position was always that the state was lying to us, the reasons for that were often whatever fitted most neatly in her head.

I don't work with her now, but I could easily see that she would believe anything that suggested a fit-up or that the police had the wrong man.

You can't speed in traffic that's backed up, especially when you leave during that time of the morning with school runs and rush hour.

Fascinated that people think that a man who brutally murdered an elderly woman would have paid a blind bit of notice to speed cameras or speed limits. My travel app says it is 4 hr 30min journey right now, without speeding.

Agree with this. To be honest it hasn't been handled very well regarding communication from both police forces. So that left MSM get the "exclusive" headlines in, which was disturbing and distasteful.

I think most of the speculation is driven by people trying to make sense of what is a horribly brutal and very bizarre occurrence with unfortunate Midsomer Murders overtones - peaceful village, deep in the countryside, well-known elderly lady living quietly, savagely murdered - I mean it is almost unbelievable. Why would someone drive down from Rotherham to Haytor, straight to AW’s house, within a very tight timeline, as though they were familiar with exactly where it was, launch a murderous attack, and leave for home after 2 minutes? No wonder speculation is rife. It’s human nature for people to want there to be an explanation, when awful things happen.

This is the kind of thing an obsessive nut job would do. I read about an American woman who strapped on an adult nappy and drove nonstop for a million hours to go and confront a husband who was having an affair - she might have murdered him too. I don’t understand the all opinions are valid stance - they aren’t. You can tell me the earth is flat or the moon is made of cheese but I don’t have to take you seriously. If you can’t fathom that a person managed to do a journey in the amount of time predicted by Google then I don’t know what anyone can say to you anyway other than ‘you do you’.

From what I have seen from having had a delve online it is not the progressive left pushing the conspiracy angle. What is being hinted at is that Ann Widdecombe had discovered something the establishment had rather she didn't. Just batshit stuff.

There is a lot of "Words are literal violence" on the Left when it comes to people questioning them but funnily enough their words aren't "literal violence" when they want to behead women who have a different point of view, say people on the Right should be excluded from society, want to " globalise the Intifada" and hope elderly women were handcuffed screaming to their beds as they were bludgeoned to death. Then they don't "literally" mean it!

Anyway, I think it’s a combination of some people thinking it’s too odd to be true ( well it is all odd - but the facts speak for themselves) and maybe enjoying sleuthing (analysing route etc) and those on the Left who didn’t like AW anyway and are disappointed it wasn’t a random burglar rather than some angry crazed anarchist or whatever he is.
