I agree to some extent with that. When posters demand “Let the police do their job” and “You will know after the court case” they always seem to be the type of posters who have an interest in shutting things down .

I was really attacked on the Wimbledon driver thread (although received many messages of support) by posters who clearly had an angle . Also on the Crocodile Incident thread there were those determined that there should be little discussion -nothing to see here; unfortunate but one of those things etc etc.

I fear that in real life the “Shut Up” people have a lot of sway. I saw that a whistleblower in the case of the Nottingham killer says he was told to pipe down about their lax attitude towards dangerous patients.

maudelovesharold · 24/07/2026 09:57

I understand it’s attention seeking, but it’s sick. We saw it with Nicola bulley, we saw it with the poor sisters who drowned, the loons come crawling out and make shit up, it’s so distasteful and always so wrong.

I don’t think that’s right. More often than not, it’s just people trying to make the senseless make sense. Yes, there are always going to be people who will try to make any particular event fit their own agenda, left and right, but mostly they’re just searching for an explanation for the inexplicable. As for ‘making shit up’ - not always. People were accused of making shit up, when they suggested that things didn’t add up in the case of the Wimbledon school crash. Anyone who questioned the narrative of the driver having suffered a random seizure was vilified on threads on here. Now she’s facing charges of death by dangerous driving. Sometimes the truth only emerges after questions are asked. It’s important to keep an open mind, rather than shut yourself in an echo chamber, whatever your opinions.

Reform have every right to feel threatened. They've also got the ridiculous conspiracy theories to deal with about Ann. What kind of mind even goes there to a UK politician having one of his own party members taken out. Absolutely grotesque.

Agree

ForeverNowWithin · 24/07/2026 09:55

I'm starting to see the conspiracy theorists actually making direct and specific accusations now, whereas before there was lots of just hinting at things being 'off.'

Much as I predicted, I've now seen one from the nuttier left wing perspective that very strongly suggests it was an inside job by Reform to stop all this probing into NF's 5m donation and to shore up his argument for expensive security. Another angle to this 'inside job' theory is because AW found out some bad stuff from within Reform that she was going to blow the whistle on.

From the nuttier end of the right wing perspective, there is an insistence that we are being gaslit as to the culprit's ethnicity. This seems to be based around the fact that the court sketch of JK in the dock looked like someone else entirely, specifically someone of a darker skin tone. Not obviously black, just potentially not white. All this was surmised from a pencil sketch. Confused I agree it didn't look at all like him, but these court sketches often don't accurately resemble the person we know to be in the dock, because we've seen photos of them. So while it is a very wide of the mark sketch, that in itself means nothing.

I notice a second sketch has now been issued to the public and the man looks distinctly more white and more Joshua Kerry like than the first one 😂Someone on high obviously said 'For god's sake man, you've really set the cat among the pigeons now with that. Get another one done by a different artist immediately, we need to nip this in the bud.'

Although much lighter in colour and bit more accurate, the new one is still not instantly recognisable as JK.

These people on the nuttier side of the right seem to want us to believe that a different man altogether is actually being held and charged and we are being spoon fed this fictitious Joshua Kerry person so we don't all go out and riot when we see that the real culprit is actually olive skinned or brown. How they think the police and the government are going to keep this pretence up when it goes to public trial is anyone's guess.

MaturingCheeseball · 24/07/2026 09:49

The Nicola Bulley debacle was awful. People turning up in real life to sleuth and snooping round people’s properties. As a dog owner with the same outfit, it was obvious the poor woman had tumbled down the bank getting the ball.

It’s reasonably harmless if people are discussing timelines for Ann’s killer, and actually unearthing information which could be useful (a signatory to social action or whatever) but some of the conspiracy theories are clearly political. I’ve been served up left wing and right wing ones - and neither should be lapped up and spread.

I agree, I was just doom scrolling Facebook and saw two videos on conspiracy theories, absolte and utter batshit stuff, like she was taken out due to about to reveal deep state stuff.

there seems to be this thought process from some of these loons the public should be told everything right away, that no information should be released that might make the killer think he’s safe, whilst they work it out.

some even going on about thr distance, for a perfectly doable journey.

I understand it’s attention seeking, but it’s sick. We saw it with Nicola bulley, we saw it with the poor sisters who drowned, the loons come crawling out and make shit up, it’s so distasteful and always so wrong.

Yes good point about Nocola. Her poor boyfriend and kids. These Colombos are not helpful.

I did laugh when Spencer inferred the Reform MPs were grubby. That's while they were sat behind her in the Commons. She won't last five minutes. Just like Rayner. Resorting to personal insults. Ann would have eaten her for breakfast.

Yes, I imagine Reform MPs and councillors are genuinely upset at Ann's death. Partly because she was well liked and was a great spokeswoman for their policies. And also because they know that radicalisation on the left threatens them too.

I think security needs to be reviewed. Otherwise politicians who are gender critical, stand up for Isreal, believe in border control etc may end up being a target.

Parsley4321 · 23/07/2026 22:09

Agree. Re the Hard Lefts alliance with radical Islam, it's the horseshoe theory in action- Radical Islam is Hard Right, and pretty fascistic at its extremes yet the Hard Left court them because they see little difference between them. Both extremes end up looking pretty similar, and just as nasty and intolerant as each other.

Edited

The hard left are despised by Islamic extremists. They just don't know it.

Yes, there's definitely intolerance on the left. The bile directed at 'Terfs' and 'Zios' demonstrates this.

In fairness, I think there's been radicalisation at both ends of the spectrum, far right, far left and extremist Islamists as well.

It's very sad and will only serve to intimidate anyone who has views that someone else sees as unacceptable.

The Left is notorious for indulging in purity spirals of who is more Left wing. It's in their DNA. The Hard/Far Left have decided gender critical feminists are 'far Right'. There are people in Your Party calling Jeremy Corbyn 'Far Right' because he apologised for anti semitism in the Labour Party ( with his fingers crossed) Of course there are people on the Right who do this but it's laughable to claim the Left haven't disappeared up their own arse on this. It's why historically the Left will never be united.

This link to an open letter addressed to Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana last September seems not to be working at the moment.

It was calling for mass socialist democratic representation in Your Party. Signatory number 1505 matched the name and town of the suspect

https://openletter.earth/sign-the-open-letter-baf85a5c?limit=0

This has been picked up on by right wing accounts, so I'm sure those of the not right who abhor taint by association with something the Other Side might have found that's salient will find this easy to dismiss

Yes, I agree. I've heard Ann's killer was a member of Jeremy Corbyn's Your Party. I think there's been radicalisation on the left of British politics and a rise in intolerance. Gaza and the trans debate has shown this. People on the right are now demonised to such an extent that their safety is compromised, which seems to be what's happened here.

It's a very worrying development and everyone in public life suffers as a result.

that sounds like a lie
and in any case that sort of speculation is very unhelpful

Corbzy isn't just branded far right, he's been branded a Zionist, which is as mortal an insult as TERF for the likes of max shanly

‘ People on the right are now demonised to such an extent that their safety is compromised, which seems to be what's happened here.’
I think the opposite has happened, it’s people on the left who are being demonised. Anyone who disagrees with a right wing view is denounced as a leftie.
