I'm sure I read that they did, to her agent. Who then asked the gardener to check although that didn't happen until the next morning. The call to the agent was pretty soon after she'd missed the zoom call.

I suggested it could be burglary gone wrong not because AW was Reform or anything to do with Farage FGS but because with the information at the time it seemed the most likely. I would never have imagined this horror.

It’s not speculation I drove from Glos to Rotherham twice a week for 10 years the time line is an impossibility and anyone who’s taken in by the narrative has obviously never travelled that path. It is a minimum 3.5 hours from here going through Birmingham then getting past Bristol from here just forget it it didn’t happen it’s impossible

There were people putting it into Google maps and it was doable, tight however. He also never hung around he was only in her house 2 mins

ANPR and the CCTV will be used as evidence in court to show what happened.

There is no way he drove from Rotherham to her home killed her by 12.20 it is impossible completely

Yeah I think that’s fair enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did eventually put in a call though, I guess we might find out eventually.

I read the horrific updates
today - my assumption with the bank cards and taling wallet was that it was some sort of cover - to look like a burglary gone wrong - though obviously he is either not the brightest or just doesnt care about being caught. Horrific and an awful death.

Honestly, yes. If was a 78 year old who colleagues knew I lived alone and who I had just been messaging about appearing on their tv show (or local radio show for that matter) something I'd done repeatedly in the past without issue, but suddenly stopped replying and didn't answer my calls then I would expect that someone put a call in for someone to check on me.

Not for a minute because they'd expect me to have been brutally murdered but in case I'd had a fall or hurt myself. As I said, I appreciate that it wasn't the responsibility of any of the producers but it is still a shame that nobody thought and/or bothered to do it.

I assume police would wait at least 24 hours before doing welfare check unless there were good reasons for doing it sooner. Ann had relatives, carer and gardener so people who would be seeing/hearing from her on a reasonably regular basis, so would assume they would raise the alarm rather than a work commitment

I presume they just thought she’d backed out or possibly wasn’t feeling well. One of the problems with someone living alone is you wouldn’t know who the obvious person was to call to check in on you. If Ann had an agent that would probably have been the obvious person to check with - maybe they did and that’s what led to the eventual welfare check.

Be honest though if you agreed to do an interview on local radio and then ducked out last minute you wouldn’t expect the police to come and check your welfare would you? It’s a bit like a colleague not turning up to work unexpectedly. I have once had a colleague take the police round to check on another colleague in these circumstances because she was worried about her. But overwhelmingly you’d just assume something was wrong and wait for them to get in touch and explain wouldn’t you.

Rather a side note on this whole horrible awful situation but it has been the case that UK Police can hold suspects a lot longer if they are suspected of terrorism - this has been the case for a while but is suprisingly not that well known.

Yes, this is what I meant. Everything I read said she was fastidious about work and timekeeping, so her suddenly being uncontactable should've surely rung some alarm bells with someone.

But there are a lot of posters especially on thread 1 and 2 that were desperate to pass this off as a "burglary gone wrong " rather than political because a) she was a Reform politician and b) this plays well for Farage and his £5 million donation for "security".

I don't often check the news during the day but looked at it late afternoon and was totally shocked. The punishment needs to be incredibly harsh, we need deterrents.

And Matt Allwright saying she didn’t turn up. I would have thought for someone seemingly meticulous like Ann that should have been a real red flag.

I’m taken aback at how upset I feel about today’s news. If only it could have been different. Poor Ann.

I'd have thought her not being contactable for a pre-arranged interview would be quite out of character and would ring alarm bells. I mean from all one knows of her, she would honour her commitments and not just flake out without letting anyone know.

Plus also it’s been reported in the news recently that police are cutting back doing welfare checks now

I guess it's difficult to know when to ask for a welfare check, and how soon would the police say it was ok to do? I think about this a lot with my mum, who is shocking at replying to messages and picking up the phone - I mean how long do you leave it?
