The fact that you're using statistics about violence to collectively demonize men and trans women is an example of pushing people into getting angry. Domestic violence doesn't happen just to women, and women typically aren't killed for their sex in this country. Women also assault men, and same sex couples assault each other as well, and there's no pathologizing about that. They're simply viewed as abusive partners, but when someone who happens to be a man who hits someone who happens to be a woman. then it's 'violence against woman'. You can see the contradiction in play when the subject of violence against trans people comes up. When a trans person is assaulted or killed, people like yourself come along and say "But who says they were killed for being trans? Maybe it was for another reason." So where does that sentiment go when men hit or kill women? Who says it's because they're women? The fact that it mostly happens in relationships is a testament that men aren't generally just going around assaulting women just for being women. It's not the same as gay bashing.

Anti trans people, both men and women, have celebrated the suicides and murders of trans people, whether they personally make threats or not, which was my point. They aren't against violence toward trans people. It's a prejudiced movement. When you trivialize people's trauma and mental health issues regarding their sex as a violent, perverse, woman hating sex fantasy, the way most anti trans people do, then why would you expect anything but a negative response? And violent and extremist rhetoric exists for all causes. Even animal rights activism is full of threats and abuse and at times even terrorist activity. A cause shouldn't be defined by bad behaviour. Anti abortion activism has at least 11 murders associated with it, that doesn't have any bearing on the anti abortion argument or stance. The same applies to everything else, including trans people.

i agree with Farage, the first time ever, burgulars don’t park in your drive way in the middle of the day , but I don’t agree with him it means it was a premeditated murder, it could have been someone with a grudge and about an argument and it escalated.

This is quite easily the most repellent, self-serving, tone-deaf post I've read in my many years on Mumsnet. And believe me, it has some stiff competition.

This is a support site geared toward and mostly posted on by a female demographic. Violence against women and girls is at epidemic levels, as is easily borne out by statistical evidence. And it's perpetrated against women because we are women. Interesting that the inevidable 'some women do it too' defence - as predictable as NAMALT - has been trotted out in this very post. Quelle surprise, eh? These posters must have a guidebook somewhere. Needless to say, those points are so weak as to be risible.

On this occasion, a 78-year old, elderly woman, not in robust health (she had carers) has been murdered in cold blood in her own home. And all the indications so far are that the perpetrator was a man. Who'd have thunk it? What a bitter irony that Ann Widdecombe just became another statistic for Jess Phillips to read out in the HoC: a list of women murdered at the hands of men - and that's just the convicted ones - which typically takes upwards of TEN minutes to read out every year.

Cue the usual brand of poster coming onto a thread expressing its shock at yet another terrible murder of a woman at the hands of a man, to make it about their own (irrelevant to this case) political agenda, to tell women off, to inform them that VAWG isn't really a 'thing' - might as well argue grass is red on that particular point given the overwhelming statistical evidence to the contrary - and to spout demonstrable lies that they are really the vulnerable demographic and it's women who are monsters.

To spell this out the right (especially Reform) want this to be political so that a) the left can be shown to be the violent un democratic and extremists and b) it helps Farage on his current £5m gift for security investigation/ scandal.

The left want this to be a simple burglary for the opposite of the above reasons.

For sake of clarity the police have not said it was not politically motivated, they have said at this time there is no evidence to suggest it was politically motivated. They are very different views.
