If the police already had his registration number from the ring doorbell then they could presumably have tracked his journey through cctv. Pure speculation of course, but perfectly plausible. It does suggest that whoever this person is, he wasn’t very experienced at covering his tracks.

To add to that, Farage has admitted there is no pattern of abuse towards her.

There is absolutely no evidence that the person travelled 280 miles to kill her.

As I’ve just said, it’s entirely plausible they jumped on a train at Newton Abbot and ended up there.

So why would someone travel 280 miles to kill an elderly lady?

You have to get to Newton Abbot for the decent connections from South Devon (trains coming up via Penzance and Plymouth), or Exeter if you’re coming from North Devon. If you’re in east Devon and want to go to London there’s the Waterloo line but if not, you’ve got to go via Exeter as well. Plymouth is well connected too!

We don’t know if the suspect was from Yorkshire. Just that he was arrested there.

There is a direct train from Newton Abbot (12 minutes from her house) to Sheffield at 1pm on a Wednesday. It’s totally possible that, given nobody found her for 24 hours, the suspect jumped on a train and fled. Newton Abbot station is tiny and the station staff there don’t really care as long as you have a ticket.

Farage has come out and said he thinks it’s premeditated and that there was a car outside 5 mins before she died. How he would know this, God knows. He must have a special relationship with the police that nobody else does?

He makes a strange comment regarding the Jill Dando case as well if you ask me, saying he hopes they don’t end up not finding her killer.

After everyone has been asked not to speculate, he just can’t help himself.

i agree with you, but she may have been able to be persuaded to wear a smart watch that would have detected her fall, but I can't see how that would've changed the outcome unless she didn't actually die immediately as well it's very unlikely anyone would've arrived in time to save her life even if it was possible with the state he left her in 😢

Just that they had found no information to suggest that there there was a political motive.

This assessment might remain the case, or might change as the investigation proceeds.

I don't have an opinion either way on whether the attack on Ann Widdecombe really was a burglary attempt. It's just an option which would fit quite well with the information currently available to us, the public. What's weird is the number of people dismissing burglary out of hand in favour of leaping to more exciting possibilities which are no more likely and in some cases rather less likely.

But ultimately we have to wait for the results of the investigation and (hopefully) a successful prosecution. The real answer could be practically anything.

We don't know that was the journey. We just know they might have gone from Haytor to S Yorks - how far would you go if you were on the run?

For all those posters pushing the narrative that this was most likely a burglary gone wrong and criticising those that who didn't think it was - don't you think that 270 miles from South Yorkshire to Haytor seems a rather long way to travel for just a burglary?

Surely better safe than sorry. No point in taking any chances till this dangerous individual was caught.which he has been thank goodness. Let's hope they've got the right person.
