Nigel Farage is resigning as MP for Clacton, triggering a by-election in the constituency - which he will stand in.

He says he wants the people of Clacton to decide whether he is worthy of representing them - not the mainstream media who he feels constantly attack him personally as well as the party he represents.

Honestly, they’re making politics into a complete farce. I cannot believe what I’m witnessing. I keep saying this but every time I see any of them just bare faced lying on tv and getting irate and laughably unprofessional, I’m open mouthed in disbelief that this is what we are descending into and it’s being allowed. It’s not normal and shouldn’t be being normalised. It’s horrifying.

It’s a rerun of what happened in the US.

Tell people what they want to hear, make the business of running a country sound uncomplicated so that any idiot can do/understand it. Rage against the toxic ‘establishment’ whilst actually being the toxicity.

All the time building personal wealth.

2024 Clacton numbers https://electionresults.parliament.uk/elections/3392

Reform have doubled their UK polling average since May 2024 (14%to 28%)

There is no way on earth Nige rolled the dice without knowing he's going to win - and he will, and be unassailable when he does, and quite capable of forcing a general election after that....

I know who I would rather have running the UK economy - it's certainly not, "more of the same shit that never works" Burnham.

I'd quite like someone who can count to twenty without removing their socks in charge - It's the economy. It's always the economy.

Ludicrous Yes they'll vote for him, its a reform safe seat. Does not make him unasailable at all
Makes him look like a conceited idiot

.

Am I the only one who loves Count Binface's policies?❤️

I've loved croissants since the 80s. From a yearly treat in my teens, to a handheld breakfast staple,on my way to.work in the 90s.

I was in an airport cafe recently and went to buy a ham and cheese croissant and it was £6.95. I mean WTF?🤯 That's just not right! Not in this day and age.

I am a UK citizen. My parents, grandparents and great grandparents were UK citizens. I support a cap on the price of croissants. They've brought nothing but pleasure to our lives.

Sweet, savoury or just added butter.
👏👏🙏

@nicepotoftea If he were concerned about his daughter he would just resign and carry on making money. Nothing he has done in the last few days protects her.

Good point. But some lions do not slink away but go on the attack when a cub is threatened.

His problem is that he seems to have made some of his money by making promises about crypto regulation to crypto billionaires. The odd thing is that there is nothing illegal about this. As an MP, he just has to be transparent and declare it. However, for some reason he doesn't want the electorate to have this information.

Tbh, I have not taken much notice. As soon as anyone talks ‘crypto’ my brain switches off. Having said that, I once watched a Netflix presentation about it, and for a few minutes it all made sense.

Quote " Good point. But some lions do not slink away but go on the attack when a cub is threatened."

Don't male lions do that thing where they kill all the cubs when they take over a pride ?

So when a lioness goes on the attack to protect her cubs, it is the new male lion they are protecting them from. But the new male usually wins. And any cubs that are not his he kills.

reducing congestion in Northallerton is all very well but he needs some Clacton-centric solutions. Separate lanes for mobility scooters and Sholleys maybe, with priority for the latter - that’d greatly improve pedestrian safety and promote local industry.

Binface vs Fuckface. I love it.

TooBigForMyBoots · 07/07/2026 23:43

Fuck face vs Binface in Clacton?

This is not horrifying. It's an entertaining summer spectacle. Many people will learn things, enjoy it and laugh.
🥤🌞😎

It will be all the best bits of being British.😁

I don’t think there are any such requirements - not sure if they even need to be resident in the UK. Whatever the regulations are Binface must surely be the expert on them.

Our MP didn't live in the constituency at the time of the GE. Not entirely sure whether he does now either! The previous one was the same.

nicepotoftea · 07/07/2026 23:20

Also, while she might live there it's Nigel Farage's house.

He has carried out TV interviews in front of the house and was registered to vote there at the last election.

Musing seriously for a moment, is there time for Binface to fulfil the candidate requirements?

Do you have to live in the constituency for a certain amount of time before you stand.

Or simply have an address there?

I read a comment someone made earlier saying let Count Binface’s slogan be ‘Let (by election date) be Bindependence day! Mirroring Farage after the Brexit vote 🤣

I’ve just seen the clip of Jenrick laying into journalists on sky news. Completely distorting the facts and shouting over them all about the fact a pool reporter went to Farage’s daughter’s house and banged on the door and hounded a child (his daughter is in adult, and they didn’t speak to her, nor bang on the door!).

The way they are allowed to get away with this crap is ridiculous. Something does need to be done because this doesn’t feel right at all anymore. All politicians lie but this is unnervingly Trumpian and so unserious. It can’t be for real that this is the state of affairs now!?

Im watching the GB News coverage. I highly recommend it.

Funniest thing I've seen in years.

I'm not trying to make the king happen. It is already a thing - it's literally the nickname he uses for himself - he put it on his wikipedia page. Do you prefer the Saviour or the Mosiah?

How embarrassingly pompous and egotistical. Let’s hope Charles puts his head on a spike outside The Tower.

DrRylandGrace · 07/07/2026 22:46

Count Binface must win!

He has already pledged to build an affordable house.

Is anyone in Clacton? How do people there really feel?

Are they still pleased they voted for him or have they been disapppointed by his lack of visibility the consituency?

How have they responded to the £5m thing? Poor victimised Nigel or is there outrage that he only agreed to stand there after receiving this foreign money?

Have the other parties gained any popularity since the last election? Clacton has always leaned right, are the Conservatives more appealing now?

How do they feel about him stepping down before finishing the term, and the costs and resources involved with that?

Will he win?!

I'm not in Clacton but I am in Essex, I used to work in the north east of the county, I think they'll vote him back in tbh. It's full of flags on lamposts and roundabouts
