A lot of it was lies. I gave you two examples (housing and NHS funding) in my pp.
Why do you think Labour's popularity fell off a cliff so quickly after the election? Is that the fault of the tories too? Its easier for Labour to blame the tories for their own ineptitude.

Are you really naive enough to think that things can be turned around in two years? I don't love the labour government and I don't always vote for them
But surely anybody with any comprehension understands that 14 years of mismanagement is hard to rectify.

This thread isn't about the previous govt, and I don't want to derail, but you should fact check rather than just accept Labour soundbites. Labour are not building more houses to give you one example, and NHS spending continued to rise throughout austerity. I don't believe this Labour govt would have been any better economically through the pandemic, and they have quietly written off a few billion they promised to recover from covid loan fraud.

WFA, employer NI, farmers tax, PS Vat, Chagos, inflation going from 2% to 3.8% within their first year, rising unemployment - particularly for young people, rising welfare spending, scrapping the two child cap, - examples of why Labour became so unpopular in record time. Much of it wasn't in their manifesto either. Then we had the Mandelson stuff.

Yes. And it's what their parents did, and their grand parents etc. Sadly not willing to recognise that the labour party of today bears very little resemblance to the labour party of then. And indeed - the UK bears little resemblance to the way it was then too. Labour Blair's open door policy and Iraq war support is much to blame for this. Which means the UK requires a very different governing system e.g. the NHS was fit for purpose, benefits were a good idea as a safety net etc. Now? Labour have ensured it's not working today.

What is Labour's excuse for 3.8% in July 2025?

I haven't loved them, but compared to the absolute scandal years of the Tories, PPE stolen billions, the parties, Brexit, Truss trashing the economy, small boats, austerity wrecking the NHS and public services, allowing our councils to become bankcrupt, the increasing divide between rich and poor, no house building etc). At least they are bringing waiting lists down, got rid of zero hour contracts, which has been destroying my family, sorted out the train disputes, bringing back trains into public hands (thank fuck)

In my lifetime the Tories put so many things into private ownership that have been since destroyed (water, rail, buses, utilities,) so that all of the profits from these went into the hands of shareholders rather than being used to fix the services. Reform want to do that more.

If Burnham doesn’t win Starmer could be on the ropes anyway. It would show his leadership can’t beat Reform, which will make his party react.

But Burnham is a surer path to a contest so I’m fine with that.

So what have they done so bad in that time? I mean, it's not much time to fix all the fuck ups, and they have made some massive errors. But nothing on the scale of the tories. Truss managed to destroy the economy in 49 days
