My only argument is that, if MPs from the other three nations that make up the United Kingdom are able to vote on matters that only affect England, English MPs should be able to vote on matters that only affect the other countries. More sensibly, only MPs from England should vote on solely English matters in line the same way as the MPs from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland vote on their own issues. This would be the fairest way. As it happens, l think we are stronger together, which is why the union has generally worked for so long. In any case, almost all of us have ancestry from each of the four nations, some extremely close, wherever we are born. Why can’t we accept each other as we are?

Who Is it you think doesn’t want Ireland to remain independent? I’m not sure where you’re going with this.
No I’m not arguing people can’t live here if they want to be independent, I’m saying it’s hypocritical and funny when they do. Especially if they’ve made a living going on about the evils of a country and want a border with England and then move there, do you not find it funny?

For independence to be realised, it has to be recognised by the international community e.g. United Nations.

In any case, this goes back to the West Loathian question and is to do with the system where we have devolution, but not federalism. It's not the fault of Scottish MPs.

Unilateral Declarations of Independence (UDI) by small countries from much larger, richer & more powerful countries which control their militaries, financial systems & currencies tend not to end well. Ask the leaders of the Catalan independence declaration of 2017. Actually, that may be tricky because I believe they are still in prison…

The SNP led Scottish government tried to become independent via the legal democratic route of a referendum in 2014, of course. The Scottish people rejected it by 55% to 45%.

Out of interest why has Scotland never unilaterally declared independence? The SNP have been in power for nearly 20 years. There is clearly a mandate for independence from a representative democracy perspective. Why wouldn't they just seize the opportunity.

Most countries who've gained independence haven't sat around asking nicely for sovereignity - they have declared independence themselves and sought to build a self-governing country.

She did write that short story on how Scotland is the richest country in the world ( if it wasn’t for the English) , a bit far fetched but she definitely has the imagination to make at least a good go at a writing career.

I think what makes it all the more funnier is that Scottish people living in England wouldn’t get a vote in an independence referendum, something Nicola herself has campaigned for. Brilliant.
