Nicola Sturgeon living in England

Is she claiming asylum? She must now realise what a great country England is after spending all those years trying to destroy the country. She is most welcome to pop rounds for a cuppa and a natter.

"its bollocks that Nicola/SNP is not anti English, it’s the SNPs whole grift. I really can’t be bothered to go through every example with you tediously arguing that is anti Westminster not anti English for a few hours"

So, you're admitting that you can't give any examples

"The fact that she has now moved to London is hilarious, do you genuinely not find the irony and hypocrisy funny?"

No.

Gwenhwyfar · 31/05/2026 21:35

It's not bollocks that I don't care about your ancestry.

If you mean that it's bollocks that she's against English rule rather than English people or England, then give some examples!

its bollocks that Nicola/SNP is not anti English, it’s the SNPs whole grift. I really can’t be bothered to go through every example with you tediously arguing that is anti Westminster not anti English for a few hours. We both know what it really is.

This is a pretty light hearted thread about someone who has spent her whole life pushing division between Scotland and England and trying to put a border between the two. The fact that she has now moved to London is hilarious, do you genuinely not find the irony and hypocrisy funny?

@Gwenhwyfar, my personal ancestry is not in question and has no relevance to the thread, which is why I have not explicitly stated what it is and why I have no problem with your lack of interest in it. I was talking about ancestry in general because it is relevant to the United Kingdom, four nations working strongly together as opposed to four individual countries bickering with each other and failing apart. You accuse me and others of not answering your questions but you have not answered any of ours. Why?

What question have I not answered?

Why would it be hypocritical? I’m genuinely flummoxed on this odd line of questioning.

Because you're saying Nicola Sturgeon can't live in England because she wants her country to be free of English rule, but everyone else who want their country to be free of English rule can live in England. Or is that not your position?

Gwenhwyfar · 31/05/2026 21:35

MrsHattie · 31/05/2026 21:33

As I’ve said before, everyone knows that is bollocks.

It's not bollocks that I don't care about your ancestry.

"this thread was about the irony of the most vocally anti-English person in Scotland suddenly moving to London. "

As I've said before people who want Scottish independent are, in principle at least, anti English rule, not anti English. I then asked for examples of her being anti English, to which I have not received a reply.

I couldn't care less about your ancestry I'm afraid.

As I’ve said before, everyone knows that is bollocks.

Irish people can also move to England very easily and they also want to be/remain independent, but you don't think they're being hypocritical. Explain why.

No I said it was funny. The bigger the hypocrite, the funnier it is and she is a big one. Being part of the UK is what allowed her to move to England so easily, can you not see the irony? And why it’s so amusing?

Violinist64 · 31/05/2026 21:26

@Gwenhwyfar, I am not sure what your issue is but this thread was about the irony of the most vocally anti-English person in Scotland suddenly moving to London. It was not intended for people to push extreme anti-English idealogy. Most of us have no taste for it and most of us would rather get along quietly together. As I said before, most of us have ancestry, some very close, from the other UK countries. We have far more in common than not. I am guessing, by your username, that you are Welsh. I am sure that you are aware that many people in South Wales have very near English ancestry.
On a final note, the problem is generally expressed as Westminster. Most English people have problems with much of what comes out of Westminster, too, especially the further away from London they live. London and the Home Counties appears to be all that is considered nine times out of ten by Westminster.

ByGraptharsHammer · 31/05/2026 21:26

She is having it ripped out of her and rightly so. It will follow her around for good.

Their whole shtick is the evils of Westminster and the English

Question them online and the faithful will be along to call you an English Tory Yoon and suggest you go back to England

So you can't give any examples then. LMFAO.
And Westminster is not the same as 'the English'.

MrsHattie · 31/05/2026 21:23

Gwenhwyfar · 31/05/2026 21:17

You said Sturgeon shouldn't live in England because she campaigns for Scotland to be independent. Yes, or no, did you say that?

She hasn't though, has she? She's against English rule, not England.

Ha ha, of course she has.

No I’m not saying Irish people shouldn’t live in England if they want Ireland to remain independent, I’m really not sure what you’re talking about. Do you think English people want to invade Ireland or something?

EnterQueene · 31/05/2026 21:17

She whacked up the taxes in Scotland then hightailed it to England. Hypocritical tax exile.

Gwenhwyfar · 31/05/2026 21:10

"Who Is it you think doesn’t want Ireland to remain independent? I’m not sure where you’re going with this."

Hardly anybody. That's my point!

"No I’m not arguing people can’t live here if they want to be independent, I’m saying it’s hypocritical and funny when they do. "

Ok, so you are saying Irish people shouldn't live in England. Because they also want to be/remain independent. Also Indian people etc. etc.

"More sensibly, only MPs from England should vote on solely English matters in line the same way as the MPs from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland vote on their own issues. This would be the fairest way. "

And that's the point of EVEL isn't it?
Also, as I said, it's because the UK is not federal and is not the fault of Scottish MPs.

When you have a camper van, you can go almost anywhere quite easily.

Maybe she can flog her book out of the back of it.
