That isn't my bar, but if we don't support independence was are getting a Reform UK government in Westminister.

I know you don't like the SNP, but due to democratic deficit within the UK if they don't achieve a 2028 referendum Reform will be in charge in 2029.

They have already said they will override the Scottish Parliament if it refuses their requests on devolved matters, so they will be in charge of everything and there will be no more opportunities to leave.

They are taking power in English local authorities right now. They have every chance of winning enough seats at a GE to form the next UK government. Due to democratic deficit, that decision will not be made by anyone in Scotland.

And if you're going to say 'Well anyone would do better than the SNP', have a look at Reform's performance in local government so far and see if that looks likely.

I haven't and will not vote Reform but it's very low standard to set if your bar is "better than Reform".

I can see Mull from the window I'm currently sitting at. I know more about the problems people face here in the rural parts than you do and while some of the people living here might be incomers, the majority of them are not. And stop bringing up Westminster faults up as distraction, the ferries problem is all on the Scottish government, specifically on the SNP..

I see that Reform UK are doing well in England's council elections.

God Forbid that that pattern is repeated by English voters in a General Election and a Reform UK PM returned.

It seems inevitable at this point they will be a serious contender for at least a coalition government in the next UK GE.

It is utterly and completely chilling to think of them in power. The only good thing is they haven't been competent in a single local council, so if they hold more councils there's a chance people will realise they are incompetent as well as evil, and not vote for them.

How do you think people on the islands with medical issues feel about the ferry problems?
Residents on Mull who require kidney dialysis need to take the ferry to Oban from where they are driven by taxi to Lochgilphead (60 miles) for the dialysis and then back, they need to do this several times every week.
The local hospice charity has fitted out a flat for cancer patients from the islands to stay when they need to travel to/from the mainland for medical appointments because the ferry service is so unreliable now, people have to travel days ahead to be sure they make it and risk getting stuck on the way back.
And you know what, it wasn't always like this, I've lived here long enough to know that this running down of vital rural services has happened under the SNP government.

I have just voted in Scotland - John Swinney is my MSP and I definitely didn’t vote for him. I would love him to loose his seat. I voted Labour on both slips

I've always been a big advocate of getting out to vote but honestly none are worthy of it.

my choices are hold my nose and tactically vote or spoil my ballot paper

I never get the “hold my nose” thing. I see it literally 😬🤣

We had a lovely rational conversation about it but we both think we're right! DD and DS1 will have to make up their own minds, which is the point of it.

My activist sister messaged me at 7.15 this morning to tell me to vote, she's definitely on the ball!
