The UK is not working properly. It is too London centric. If you research you will find terms like "hyper-centralised" and an A+++ country (the only other is Japan).

Think Hunger Games. The Districts must keep the capitol (sic) alive.

There are options to independence like full PR or some form of federalism.

A Reform PM would be dangerous esp. if they tried to shut down devolved Parliaments eg try telling Sinn Fein/IRA.

The Good Friday Agreement for Northern Ireland infers no less than 7 years between Border Polls. Transpose that to 2014 & that is 2021.

I get that unionists are feart of losing this time but being feart of a result is not democracy.

This doesn't really track, as polling has put indi at roughly 53% for several months now, with popular vote for the SNP in the high 30s, so there is clearly a degree of support for Indi among people who are not actually voting SNP.

Given that when the previous S30 was agreed support for Indi was polling in the 30s, it would be an extremely naive viewpoint to think that "no" would win again when currently the polls say 53% and we have yet to have any sort of campaign. The prospect of a referendum actually becoming a reality appears to focus minds, and going by the previous one, when it's a realty rather than a hypothetical and people actually start contemplating what it means, it leads to a shift toward "yes".

Glad to see the constitutional question is a main thing on the BBC programme. If there is a majority of pro Indy MSPs, we should get a referendum.

No Westminster PM is just going to roll over and grant an S30 because of the outcome of a Holyrood election. It wouldn't happen either even if the SNP alone had a majority.

The difference between now and 2011 is the pertinent fact it's highly likely the "No" side would lose, whereas the situation in 2011 indicated that would be nigh on impossible, hence Cameron's calculated gamble.

It's looking increasingly likely the route to Independence involves an utterly hostile English Nationalist government in Westminster struggling for popular support, and offering a "lets kick the scrounging Jocks out" UK-wide referendum in an attempt to rouse xenophobic sentiment. Bring it on.

DH has voted SNP in the past purely on the local candidate but it would still be a no in a referendum.
