Has everyone forgotten how absolutely vile the SNP were to Charles Kennedy?

You live near me. Odious woman, who came to my door during her campaigning for GE. We were polite to her, but she and her canvasser were bordering on rude when we stated we wouldn't be voting for her. She certainly isn't her grandfather.

Likely to vote Labour or hold my nose and vote for Lib Dem/Labour to keep out an SNP MSP from my constituency.

20 years of failure by the SNP to deliver on devolved areas hardly inspires confidence for independence. Financial mismanagement, failure to meet targets on housebuilding, housing emergency across the country, ferry fiasco, Murrell/Sturgeon controversies. And their disastrous handling of the GRA reform when they did everything they could to avoid communicating with anyone raising concerns about the proposed changes to legislation.

I voted SNP because I thought Nicola was a great leader and possibly Green in 2021, it was busy at work, I honestly can’t remember. I’ve voted SNP in the past. I’ve also voted Labour but that was probably Dewar, McConnell times.

Actually got my dates wrong, it was around 2017 that I started to tune out. I realised at Indyref that people say anything and most votes are a leap of faith. I voted Yes. Then the same thing happened with Brexit. I decided early on how I’d vote and just didn’t bother tuning in to the nonsense.

All the examples you’ve given are very old established policies, apart from the child payment. What else is new because I feel like the SNP have run out of ideas. I disagree that the NHS isn’t in a mess. The Glasgow hospital debacle is shocking. And sadly it’s a postcode lottery. Where I am we have a good service, however it needs to be joined up and digitised. It shouldn’t be a hassle to see your own medical notes. The NHS service for my parents and some friends (I have folk dotted around Scotland) is not good. My elderly parents have had an atrocious service no letters, no texts, no information, appointments cancelled with no explanation etc. It shouldn’t be like this. A friend (who had cancer) turned up for an appointment to be told she’d arrived on the wrong day. She had a letter in her bag and demanded to be seen. It was a follow up check to confirm she was clear and was told her scan results might take 6 months to analyse.

I do not know. I feel it is a duty to vote. Who, I do not know. I think this is the most difficult election, thus far, in my lifetime!!!

Me too. I know who i"m voting for locally and who I am NOT voting nationally. I am politically homeless and it's a sad state of affairs. I cannot get my head around these zealots who will vote SNP, no matter what!!

It's a fact that SG get block grant only, and all other spending is administered by WM government on our behalf. Therefore they are responsible for the deficit.

That is before you look at any other area of policy, like security which is devolved. Scotland have been refused permission to build a 1.5bn wind farm, because it's funded by China, so a 'security risk'.
All small nuclear reactors in England and Wales are due to be built by Chinese companies, but these are NOT a security risk?
My MP Joani Reid has had her husband arrested on suspicion of spying for China. She has had a drunken party at the submarine base that culminated in her exchanging messages with a married submarine captain, who resigned when this was uncovered.
She is voluntarily standing as an independent and is still my MP!
How on earth is any of this a competent and safe way to run our country, and why should we vote for parties who this this is good enough?

@Weeelokthen but you’ve said it, what is the choice here? It feels like picking the best turd. None of the leaders seem particularly competent. It’s a depressing choice. For my constituency vote I’m going with the person because he seems like a good candidate, is present in the community etc. For the party vote, none of them appeal. I’ve felt like this since 2018.

Ok, at £35K then, but still: income tax raised in Scotland doesn't go to Westminster which is what previous poster claimed.

HMRC is collecting it but the money is transferred to the Scottish government.
If this weren't the case the higher income tax that anyone above £30K pays in Scotland would mean money would leave Scotland with no benefit to Scotland. Why would the SNP do this?

This is what puts me off politics these days, the extremes and making it personal. The original ethos of the Scottish Parliament was to get more of a consensus and pleasant way of working. Now since Indyref, Brexit, Trump etc it’s so hostile. There is room for difference but ultimately we need to work together. The goading isn’t helpful. It’s made me tune out and not want to vote.

Be very wary of asking AI about the election. It got all the candidates wrong, said half of them hadn’t been announced and when I pushed back it finally on the 3rd attempt came up with a list !

I suggest you read the SNPs own growth commission report. When even their own document trying to persuade people to vote for independence is so bleak about the decades of pain we’re in store for then you know the position is bad.
