Comparable countries? none in Europe are doing better and we certainly don't compare to the USA.

Even with recent falls, stock market, inc the FTSE All Share (uk companies) is around 20% higher than in July 2024.

People let their hatred of Labour blind them to certain realities & if you really belive Covid was worse than the GFC, then its no wonder Reeves has had to raise taxes and is getting tepid growth.

Not everything was going backwards. Lots of economic/financial markers were looking better in the years leading up to Covid then they looked in the aftermath of the 2008 crash. You really can't say that everything was bleak and getting worse, in, say 2019! Covid was an absolute hammer blow, every bit as bad (if not worse) than the 2008 crash.

Until that twat Trump messed up the global economy, again! things were ticking up.

You don't like Labour, thats fair enough but the previous lot had 14years to show us what they could do and failed on every measure.

There will be children living in poverty. Always. It's statistically impossibly not to have them unless communist state.

A child is said to be living in poverty if they live in a household with income below 60 per cent of the national average (median) income.

This definition depends on median, not purchasing power.

No things would not have inevitably improved post Covid given we had been going backwards for the previous decade I think we can safely say we would have carried on going backwards

Things would always get better once we were over the financial catastrophe of Covid that has set back the country's finances by a decade. Even if no changes had been made in the last 18 months, the finances would be getting better. In fact, probably even moreso due to the stupid damaging changes made by Reeves!

We should be comparing our growth (or lack of it) against other comparable countries, many of which are doing a lot better than we are!

Anyone can stop strikes by caving in and paying what’s demanded. Anyone can reduce lists by them going on so long people either die or are removed from the list as they are deemed too old for the procedure.

Those working hard and paying taxes are worse off. Those on benefits still getting their ‘pay’ rises and those wanting to have more children getting more money.

Businesses and young people completely shafted.

Both gas and oil prices have been falling over the last year (obv excl seasonal peak) and were expected to fall further. Up until last weekend of course

I thought she showed more personality today than normal which was an improvement.

But as a chancellor she's completely hopeless.

And it now feels like nobody is listening to Labour anymore - as the Tories found out in the last parliament, there's no coming back from that.

Things are improving financially though. If you look at the facts they are.
Of course the war is going to have a negative impact but the statement is based on the OBR forecast and that is what she was delivering.

A lot of that was happening anyway, whoever was in power due to external factors or changes/events already in place before the last election. The main changes made by Labour have made things worse though. Rachel is utterly incompetent and deluded and getting desperate to save her skin.

None of this is true!

Inflation is significantly up since Labour got to power. Prices are significantly up. Unemployment is significantly up. Inflation is 50% UP on Labour's own target!

Just because the rate of the price rises wasn't as fast last month as it is was the month before doesn't mean things have got better economically. I can assure you they haven't.

And that's why the latest YouGov poll has Rachel Reeves' approval rating on record low levels. And Labour polling at just 16% .. and in fourth place

They obviously cannot turn things around overnight. Personally I am glad Labour is charge.

• Inflation down because economy is chocking, all retailers are struggling with sales falling.

• Interest rates down because of above - they are trying to keep us away from recession

• Waiting lists down dramatically - depends on where you are

• Net migration halved - mainly driven by student visas clampdown introduced by Rishi and significant increase in Britons moving abroad. Productive, wealth generating Britons, many younger ones, exact demographics we want to keep.

• Economy grown - where did you find this? Real GDP per head is estimated to have fallen for the second consecutive quarter by 0.1%; Growth in GDP in 2026 has been revised down – from 1.4% to 1.1%;

• Energy price cap coming down by 7% - world prices decreased substantially. Watch this space now

• Strikes ended - resident doctors as well?

Most important - economy slowed down and unemployment is through the roof, daily threads even here. It's especially tough for the youngsters. The outcomes will start filtering through the numbers this year.
