Working class people supporting the more right wing of the political parties is not new. The 1979 general election is an example.

In my personal experience, though, it's far more common for left wingers (presumably feeling that they hold the moral high ground) to throw around the strongest insults of the politicians being discussed, like "cunt" used about Suella Braverman in the post I reacted to, and the strongest personal attacks on the posters expressing right wing views or the members of the public supporting right wing parties.

Which will unfortunately have some support because people tend to focus on the race protected characteristic and it will appeal to their silent racism, or belief that white people are treated less favourably.

Braverman wanting to get rid of the Equality Act is a real head scratcher from her.

She's banking on that other type of discrimination- she's protected because she's rich and powerful.

What is it about holding left wing views, a sense of moral superiority maybe, that means it's almost always the left wingers who descend to personal attack, both on other posters and on the subjects political discussions?

I still believe that it is extremely important for the Business Secretary to have real world personal experience of generating the profits that pay the taxes that finance the country.

I haven't looked at Braverman's plans but I expect they will have considerable appeal to voters.

You are sidestepping my point. It isn't necessary for someone to have real world experience to be a politician. What is necessary is a desire to learn and to listen and to surround oneself with advisers who do have experience.

Braverman will approach this role entirely ideologically and do extensive damage.

But of course it's far easier to have experience of business as a government minister than it is of education. How many MPs who have worked at senior level in education are there available to choose from?

My mind more than 'boggles' at the idea of Braverman's education policy. As a teacher, I'm bloody terrified -as should anyone be.

You're missing the point. Even if his entire success is due to his grandad being able to give him his first job, that he studied an appropriate degree to be able to do, he would still be a rare Business secretary for his experience of business.

As I pointed out, but it's worth repeating, the current one appears only to have experience of the overseas, not for profit, charity sector.

Not a great deal of exposure there to understanding how to build businesses that make the profits that are required for the tax that finances the country to be paid.

I suspect her educational policies will consist of the 3 Rs and a lot of glorifying the British Empire.
