Why would a PM go against the advice of his own security service to grant something ill advised to a foreign (and threatening) entity? Especially one with such an abysmal human rights record. Curious.

Whether Starmer will go now or later on or not at all, will depend on what comes out on what he really knew about Mandelson.... but atm there simply isn't the evidence for a resignation.

I’m sure that is true but rumours are spread about anyone in the public eye and politicians of all colours.
Many years ago during Brown’s tenure there was a plan by Damian McBride & Derek Draper (probably encouraged by Alastair Campbell) to start a rumour website in which any old nonsense was made up about Tories and their families.
It was discovered and stopped but the intention was there.

There is a reason why even the right-leaning press don't report on this stuff. They hate Starmer and would be all over it immediately if there was even the slightest bit of evidence to substantiate the claims.
