Burnham has been blocked!

Just being reported on BBC news now. The NEC has met and refused to allow Andy Burnham to stand in the by-election. This is looking very bad for Starmer.

Ed M was the Labour party's preferred candidate, they literally wrote to members to members to vote for him as the preferred candidate and not David and whoever else was in the running at the time.

Brilliant and that’s from one of the few remaining Labour supporters, so you admit they’ve run the country into the ground. Reform or Tories would make a better Government, essentially anyone whose core world view isn’t based on punishing success and authoritarian identity politics.

If my DD16 and her mates are anything to go by, they'll be voting Green. They are the first generation who truly, truly gets how screwed the planet is and wants to do something about it, instead of paying lip service like the generations before them.

Anything outside of trying to stall climate change (because we're past the point of reversing it) is just noise.

David Cameron is where the rot began. He should never have held the referendum that he thought he'd win easily. The Remain campaign was abysmal while Brexiteers believed the lies on a bus.

Just google the usual stuff and you will see the damage the Tories did while in office and how we are still struggling to cope with that. Anything the Labour government has done has to be seen in context of the hand they’ve been given and I’m no supporter of this government.

No, I was just venting about how he’s being portrayed as some sort of saviour. Manchester is a fab and thriving city but the same cant be said of the wider GM area. I visit quite regularly and there is still a lot of household poverty, crime and anti social behaviour.

Now I accept that nowhere can be perfect and equally he isn’t to blame for all it’s problems but there seems to be a belief that he’s a miracle worker and Manchester was saved simply by him becoming Mayor so he’ll do the same for the country.

Yes, it’s quite obvious that Labour’s remaining demographic support is basically anyone who doesn’t work and a few public sector workers. I expected them to be bad, but it’s amazing just how fast they’ve managed this.

I agree completely. Starmer and his cronies on the NEC have shown what spineless and cowardly wankers they are. I resigned from the Labour Party when Keir Starmer was elected as leader because I thought he would be a disastrous Prime Minister and have been proven right. After doing this, they deserve to lose the seat to Reform.

Yes, and I’ve been anti Ed Miliband ever since. If not for his arrogance and hubris in thinking he was PM material (he so obviously wasn’t), and aligning himself with the harder Left - when it’s well known that harder Left don’t win U.K. elections - we’d almost certainly have had David M, and not Cameron, and almost certainly not Brexit either.

IMO he’s been an utter disaster for the country.
