Farage and Reform

An article in the Independent today claims that us mums here on mumsnet support the Reform party, I was horrified to think mums of our future generations would support a grifter like Farage. So I’m conducting this poll.

The poll on this thread has 133 votes. Not near enough to make judgment.

@Pineneedlesincarpet

How can we tell who is a bot though? And who is just saying what they think?

It’s not possible. More like wishful thinking when the alleged bots express a different view.

Just looked at the poll result. People who comment on threads like these exist at the extremes of a bell curve. Ie it attracts those who have a strong view either way. It’s the majority who sit in the middle who decide who gets elected though and you aren’t going to see folk like that in a thread like this.

in a way it’s pleasing - we need those who are anti-reform complacent and sure of their own superiority. That will make the next GE result all the sweeter.

I think it was something to do with an interview. It doesn’t matter if a site supports whoever - we all have our own vote.

Bots appear pushing different kinds of ideologies. Activity isn’t limited to support for a particular political party!

yellowspanner · 17/01/2026 07:53

No, there are at least two of us

Mahanswarcanoe · 16/01/2026 23:02

I’m a reform voter. So there’s at least one of us :)

SumUp · 16/01/2026 22:56

And of course some reform voters are real people!

SumUp · 16/01/2026 22:55

EasternStandard · 16/01/2026 19:24

I’m wondering too. Surely given some do vote Reform mumsnet will have some of those voters on here @SumUp

So let's just live under labour bring buggers from over seas who lives her efor free make trouble giving hard times to young girls and women and instead to support veterans and pensioners let's take money from them and give it to the illegal migrants who live happily ever after in nice hotels giving everything for free
Reform wants to stop this
Did you ever think about your grandparents or people who loosing business because of labour?
Well I am pretty sure I will be bombarded by such a horrible comments but I don't really care !

But there are also more bots and bad faith actors on this site than there used to be.

How did you make that conclusion? What methodology did you apply to separate posts into different categories?

I am
Not a bot.
I've been on MN under various names for years.
I support Reform and will vote for them

Fernsrus · 13/01/2026 10:09

It does. I see that Wales is planning to make it illegal for candidates to lie in Welsh elections. Good for them. It should be illegal to lie to candidates all over the UK.

SumUp · 13/01/2026 09:07

Some of the racism / Islamophobia is genuine I’m sure. Mothers can be arseholes too.

But there are also more bots and bad faith actors on this site than there used to be. Mumsnet is viewed as politically significant, which is a good thing in some respects, but it means that it also attracts those seeking to manipulate.

No responsibility needed! Labour have taken away the requirement to make responsible decisions. Its a free for all now. Fill your boots!

And this is partly why so many won’t be voting Labour again. 🤷‍♀️

@Thirdchildjoy

Should people only be able have cancer treatment if they can afford to pay for it?

Invalid comparison. People are unable to choose whether or not they get cancer, but can choose whether or not to have cancer.

No but the government chooses if it pays for it. The government has chosen to pay for me to have another child - I'm very grateful to them. They didn't have to. You can only play the cards your dealt.

I agree with your point on the basis it's the Government that set the rules and you just play by them.

What if the rules change?

Then I'll have to change the way in which play life but for now my goal is make the most of it. No one looks back on their deathbed and says I wish I spent less time with my family and paid more tax.

Pineneedlesincarpet · 11/01/2026 13:42

Thirdchildjoy · 11/01/2026 13:19

That is a question for the Government. I just play the best life I can within the rules set by the Government. Don't we all? Should people only be able have cancer treatment if they can afford to pay for it? Or is that different because it might affect the middle classes.

The answer is to ban X altogether, restrict Facebook, TikTok to over 18s, Ban truth social.

Sounds harsh but it's the only way to protect our democracy.

Banning people from having discussions? You've got a strange idea of what democracy is.
Perhaps it's MN which should be banned. We don't want women talking about stuff.

EEexpat · 11/01/2026 10:47

@Thirdchildjoy

I'm almost going vote for them anyway for an a thank you for funding my dream of another child.

Why are others responsible for funding children you have chosen to have? Should it not be your sole responsibility?

Once it gets nearer the election - I will work out which party will give my family the most benefit support and vote for them. I suspect it will continue to be Labour. I'm almost going vote for them anyway for an a thank you for funding my dream of another child.
