Your MP/Councillor

Would you recognise your MP/councillor if you passed him/her in the street?

At the last local election there was someone outside asking who I had voted for, I asked back who she was and she replied the local ward councillor...

Yes, I have met all three and two of them (Green and Labour) know me by name too. One is a slippery careerist, the other has been more visible and effective in the past 18 months than his predecessor and the other two councillors have been in years

I would have in the past, but we have recently had a new MP and new councillor, so I wouldn't now.

MP: yes. I'm interested in politics anyway so I've always been able to name and recognise my MP, but even more so this time because my seat was a marginal that changed hands at the last election, so we got sent tonnes of literature with her photo on.

Councillor: yes, her kid was in the same class as mine at primary school so I recognised her name in the campaign literature, and have bumped into her/said hello a few times since she was elected. But tbh I also would have recognised the elderly fella who was my councillor before her.

My local councillor, yes. They are very active in the community and actually pretty useful. MP though, no idea at all.

Yes. MP has been in post for ever and is actively involved in some issues locally to me. Whether or not I agree with his politics, he's very engaged on behalf of his constituents. Same for local Councillor.

I would recognise one of my ward councillors as she has been really helpful when the council were taking months to paint a disabled space outside my house, I also follow her on Facebook.

I would also recognise my MP as I went to a focus group he ran. He is also constantly on social media.

My MP is always out & about in the constituency I marvel at his energy know him quite well as did a lot of canvassing in the run up to the election, one councillor lives on my road & the other two are very local any of the other councillors I wouldn’t know.

Mp yes as I've seen her on TV (backbencher but got involved in some high profile politics last year). Always in the local paper.
Councillors yes ones the mum of dc2 friend. One landed on my doorstep last year and I gave him quite the grilling so I'd remember him. The third one probably not. I see him on the leaflets but not taken notice of him.

He caught me trespassing a while back.

MP yes - she’s only a backbencher, so not high profile, I’ve never seen her on tv or anything. But I saw her face on enough posters and flyers during the election that I would recognise her.
