Local MP - yes, he was one of those helicoptered in from England by Keir Starmer because there was no one in Wales who could do the job apparently...
Local MS - yes, he's getting on a bit now though and drinks in my local!

I do pay a lot of attention to politics and think it's important to hold elected members to account. Also we have a big election coming this year...

Yes, I’d recognise my MP. I actually saw him walking to the shops with his kids today.

Yes, I think so. He's pretty young and a first-timer (Lib Dem - the previous incumbent was a Tory and had been hanging on for ages and I did recognise him, mostly because he went to a lot of local events and concerts, and also lived in the next village along...) but has been active since elected. He seems a good one.

The ex-MP I would really like NOT to recognise in the street, but have no choice because the bugger is seemingly everywhere round here these days, is a recently ex-PM... Wish he'd just stay at home.

MP yes, met her as a councillor, supported her ever since and voted for her in the GE. Same (former) profession as me and she works her arse off in Parliament. Local councillors, no idea largely for the polar opposite reasons.

MP yes shes been in here for years. Councillor the old one probably but we’ve not long got a new one and I haven’t a clue who she is

I was a borough councillor for 6 years, generally a lot of my constituents knew who I was and would chat when we passed in the street. It's a town, around 50k people, and I represented the urban centre. I was representing the Lib Dems, and we always put out newsletters every 6 weeks, I also did ward walks at least once a fortnight, and I attended a lot of community events as well as being a parish councillor and trustee on several community group boards. My party encouraged us to be out there as much as possible, but Labour and Conservatives would only put out a newsletter at election time.

MP, yes. Councillors, no, with one or two exceptions.

my local MP stays two doors down from me, so I do recognise her
in Scotland so we have multi member council wards, and I recognise one out of my three local councillors (who helped sort out a bin issue a couple of summers back)

Not sure I’d recognize him but I have contacted our local councillor about parking issues. He was excellent. Responded to my email within 5 mins and sorted the problem. He’s a LibDem. My MP is a Minister and I know what he looks like, but I’m generally rubbish with faces do I doubt I’d recognise him if he walked past.

Yes, because I have met my MP many times. And I know all three of ́my ward because I am married to one of them!

Yes, MP lives in our village, used to be excellent local councillor, which is why I voted for her.

Current borough councillor I know personally (we were in the same babysitting circle).

I've had quite a few correspondences with my MP over the years. and would easily pick them out of a line up. I also had replies from their predecessor, but they were always thinly veiled attempts to have a photo opportunity.

The only reply I have ever had from a local (Tory) councillor was to say "What do you expect with a Labour council ?". That's out of (checks) 20 letters in 22 years.

Yes, he is the leader of our Unitary Council (and I am interested). No to the MP as I didn't vote for him. But I did recently stop and chat to the bloke I did vote for when I saw him out and about.

Councillor yes because they are very local and it's a rural area. They are always putting out leaflets with their pictures on telling us what wonderful stuff they've done. Not a fan.

MP also yes because he's a local man who has lived in the town all his life and worked in another capacity before going into politics. He's a Labour MP and I think I'd probably vote for him even if I wasn't keen on Labour because he's a back bencher who works hard for local issues.

Yes to both. My MP is probably the most high profile female MP in government at the moment (and until recently would see her frequently in the constituency and running at parkrun). Our locals councillors are very good too, one in particular, and would recognise them.

Maybe not if I literally passed her in the street but I do know her name and what she looks like yes, so would recognise her in the right context!

Yes. He's the only one who ever came knocking in 30 years living here. And he was a parent at the school I worked at. Knew the previous one too as she loved a photo op.
