I have no desire for world war 3, but history should teach us appeasement will only delay the inevitable. Sadly we do need to prepare to defend our allies and should, in my view, be talking openly about rejoining the EU to ensure the safety of our continent. The US is no longer and ally. What will we do if they attack NATO countries? I hope this never happens. But we need to consider this a real possibility.

This bombing and invasion is absolutely shameful. A disgusting breach of international law. How dare the US bomb a country and kidnap the president so they can take over the oil and enrich themselves.

Trump is demonstrating that international law means nothing any more and any leader with power can invade anywhere they like the look of now. It’s terrifying.

The trouble is, they’re probably right.

No one is strong enough and there seems to be a general apathy. Trump does whatever he wants and everyone just tuts and shrugs.

All too late it’s become obvious that the world trusted the US too much. So much of our defence and strategy relies on the US and now there’s a corrupt President we’re all slightly fucked as no one has the power or means to challenge him.

It is a violation of a country's sovereignty, breaks international law and will destablize the region. Countries with a common border are already braced for refugees.

In the Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago's Prime Minister is fiercely back pedalling her support for Trump and insisting that the country was not involved in the latest US action, never mind that she allowed US radar stations to be set up in Tobago. It's all a bit late, as other Caribbean nations had made it clear that they were against US troops and ships in the area killing fishermen and alleged 'drug runners'.

As someone with family in Venezuela, I absolutely condemn your high-handed attitude that the US seizing control of an independent country will 'streamline' things.

Fuck your "From a geopolitical standpoint it doesn’t matter much about the reasons why". What this has done is heap more hardship on the beleaguered ordinary citizens. The US will rape their country and make it pay for the privilege.

I actually think this will streamline things a bit, china and russia are both pursuing projects in various african countries and south American. I think china was the main recipient of Venezuela oil. Pushing them out of one arena is a good thing. From a geopolitical standpoint it doesn’t matter much about the reasons why, it’s just a good thing when iran, russia and china are on the back foot.

If anyones next it’s likely to be Columbia or cuba. I think they are probably trying to get control over their own backyard with positive knock on effects or disruption to hezbollahs drug trade, disruptions to chinese oil supply and russian influence in south america.

Agreed! Manduro is a terrible guy but this is about Trump enriching himself from their oil and distraction from the Epstein files and nothing more. I think we are seeing the USA confirming the Russian "multipolar world", in which Europe belongs to Russia whilst Latin America and Greenland to the USA. Farage of course would capitulate to both.

I think we should double our support for Ukraine and prepare for war. Fuck Trump and Fuck Putin.
