If you have that kind of money you don’t need PIP. You’re not on your arse. Most ordinary PCP’s need that as a down payment. The Uk has been the magic money tree for far too long.

Can you please find a wheelchair accessible car on Motability that has an advanced payment which is less than £4k-8k?

What difference to the economy will it make, taking those car makes off the scheme?

Isn't the general cut of for means tested benefits £16k?
So disabled benefits should be capped at a harsher criteria than UC?

Having a car made in the UK will be supporting UK jobs and the company will be paying UK business taxes irrespective of the nationality of the company who owns it.

They are very expensive vehicles, not required by claimants. Lesser models will suffice.

Nobody needs an expensive car really, lesser models suffice for all.

Just because Motability is structured as a charity doesn’t mean it is above scrutiny. While it reinvests profits and supports disabled people, it’s still owned by major banks that earn money through interest and fees. In a cost of living crisis, this does raise questions about transparency (not its first rodeo in this respect), executive pay, and whether public benefits should support private financial gains, even indirectly.

Yes, I gathered that you would be satisfied, you are not alone feeling that way, on this thread. That still does not inform anybody, how those makes no longer being available, will help the economy, as you inferred that it will. Still never mind. I expect that you have no idea, anyway.

It doesn't cost the tax payer any more if someone drives a luxury car instead of a functional one, so what's the issue?

This isn't saving the government any money at all, it's completely pointless and degrading. Only extremely disabled people are entitled to a mobility car . A car that is rented and often requires a large down payment as well.

Honestly i think some people think you can just go to the gp, say your back hurts or your child is a bit lively and you just get the keys to a free car and thousands per month in benefits. You have to be seriously disabled to get dla/PIP and considerably more disabled than that to be allowed to rent a motability car. My 11 year old is autistic with an emotional development delay of more than 8 years. He gets dla but not the higher rate mobility, not a blue badge and not a special needs school place. He needs 1-1 at school but he doesn't get that either, he gets 1-3. He has 2 negative behaviour points directly related to being unsupervised briefly because the TA can't be in 2 places at once. We have to fight for everything.

So nearly a 1000 posts (the majority offensive to disabled people) have been brandishing their Pitchforks over a few.

Fwiw I won't accept my pip when I sell my company holding next year but boy will the tax payer enjoy my return.
Discrimination is rife atm so thank your lucky stars if you or yours are not disabled.

I don't think of Mercedes or BMW as premium marques, like most car brands they are manufacturing vehicles/parts in collaboration with other companies, so Mercedes using diesel engines designed with Renault. It actually says more about the buying public that they believe the brand hype, as opposed to the reality of most car manufacturers today.

Well, the chancellor brought this in and is ‘expected to press ahead with scrapping about £300m in tax breaks for the Motability scheme’, tomorrow.

I think it perhaps sends the wrong ‘message’, in the prevailing environment.

Agreed, but if someone with a disability wants a luxury car and can afford a luxury car, what the fuck has it got to do with anyone else? And why does it matter to anyone else who they lease the car from?
