The Chagos deal can be a duff deal entirely on it's own . I'm more concerned about the £30billion we are paying for the privilege of giving away our own territory and that the Maruritians (ally of China) are now able to lower their own income tax based on a (potential) rise of ours and our children's.

Most reasonable people, left or right, recognise that holding onto a handful of territories nowhere near Britain makes no geographic or political sense and in no way increases our standing in world affairs.

We don't hate our country. We are disappointed to see the rise of the likes of Farage and Jenrick and the inability of some (like you) to accept that people can have different views & a healthy debate without using words like hate. Quite sad views really.

You don't have to be a leftist to recognise that Britain historically thrived on trade but by leaving EU we have made trade with our nearest neighbours more difficult and harmed our economy, and continues to do so on an ongoing basis.

We also used to attract investment as the low regulation / employment rights gateway to the European market and that has largely stopped. Now companies that invest do so to access the UK market only.

Not sure what chagos has to do with this. I believe that the conservatives did most of the negotiation / groundwork.
