Anyone else really concerned about asylum seekers killing people, seemingly to get a life term prison sentence?

Just to clarify I'm a lifelong labour voter before I get told I'm a deform bot!
Locally to me an assylum seeker from Ethiopia has just been jailed for 25 years for the murder of a man in a bank in broad daylight (he was angry that his application had been turned down).
Earlier this week an afghan national killed 1 person and injured 3 more...
I follow politics, and geo politics (am a history grad) and so I'm aware that the current immigration levels are nothing to what will come when the Sahel region collapses, but is this going to keep happening?
Why can't they be deported? Why should uk tax payers pay?
I have teen dds, and it makes me scared for them.
I know there's no quick fix after years of tory corruption and inaction, but what could be done within a legal framework?
Would rejoining the EU help stop the boats?

Also, the cost is absolutely ridiculous.
One family where I am (big town in SW) - family of 7 from Afghanistan. Live in a 4 bedroom house (have full rent, council tax and bills all paid) and get £200 a week.

I understand they're waiting for their asylum claim to come through. I assume when it does they will also then be entitled to Universal credit and child benefit?
This is just one family. How many families like this are all over the country?
Surely this is just not sustainable for such a small country.....

You would be astonished at the benefits bill the taxpayer is supporting for families who were born and bred here. I work in a large secondary school with a 95% white British intake, in an 'affluent' home counties area. 18% of our students are entitled to free school meals. Which means those families will also be getting other support.

Your family mentioned above is just a tiny addition to the already unsustainable spend we are all shouldering.

@potato08 i'm not trying to paint you as anything

I was trying to clarify the question you were asking

Actually, what you have said in your own words - though you seem keen to deny it - makes a lot of sense. It would be a way of playing the system as well. Constantly appealing against deportation.

I was partly surprised by this post because when people have tried to raise these concerns, going back years now, a lot of the posts get deleted.

@potato08 your title implies that you think men who are coming into the country via dubious means are actually committing murder in order to get life sentences in prison.

What I got from your title was that you think they do it on purpose so a UK prison will look after them forever or for a long time

If that isn't what you were trying to say, what are you trying to say?

I am extremely worried that we have a lot of men from very problematic backgrounds coming into the country, yes.

I think many of us are worried

What you are saying is a step further than even I would go ... it's possible, I suppose.

ironically, this looks like a very messy effort to make people feel even more angry about the situation than we already do. Peppered with some weird political commentary.

Absolutely not.
I'm asking a question.
So many asylum seekers seem to commit crimes - why? They surely don't want to be deported??
So why do it?
I'm not a reform voter, or racist, or blind to the awful crimes committed by white British people...but that doesn't mean I'm also blind to the huge issues being caused by large groups of african/syrian/afghan men being dropped into communities (call me cycical, but poor, northern and midlands communities) who have no money, no prospects of a job, and no respect for the laws of the UK.
But, yeah, paint me as a hysterical woman, why not? 🙄

It scares me a lot. They seem absolutely unhinged and have no morals. It wouldn't suprise me at all if that's their plan. Our country is going down the pan and the illegals are a big part of it. Im so scared for my daughters future. And the majority are young men. There were those two young girls on the dingy that were r*d by multiple men on the same dingy, on their way over and none of the others did anything, and now they are in our country. I have absolutely nothing against women and children seeking refuge. But all the fighting age single men putting our girls and women at risk is terrifying. And why can't any of them get refuge the legal way? Why do so many people work hard to get to our country and others just drift on in? We are tiny in caparison to the rest of the world. They pass through so many safe countries before getting to us. Make it make sense!!

Yes true. Men too. Including those who stepped in to help. So sad and not right to endure it.

Agreed. One was a 14 year old child I think.

The story in the press (BBC) about the guy Kebatu who was deported yesterday really annoyed me. Why advertise that they had to give him £500? Adverts attract customers.

They gave him £500 in return for him not attempting to claim asylum. If he put in a new asylum claim they wouldn’t have been able to deport him until his claim was heard.

The person murdered dog walking was a man and two there injured also
Men. So it's not just women.

Absolute disgrace we have unknown and known criminals allowed to stay here.

It's gets worse every week

Two other things - I am glad he did not die of cold having to sleep out overnight in Finsbury Park in spite of everything he did, and secondly where did he get his change of clothes?

Ive never seen this said on here before about any other sex offender.

Whattheactu · 29/10/2025 19:00

Also all other things aside why are there apologists for men who were raised to believe that women are inferior and are to belong to and to be controlled by men ?
If you think it's not the case, the proof is in fact that many left females in the family behind to be mistreated and abused.
The only people who think so are champagne socialist guardanista racists hypocrits who never mix with other races or cultures and mysoginists who view women as a class to be oppressed and who. Both those categories - we always know who you actually are despite your virtue signaling.

Damnd · 29/10/2025 18:58

@Zenwalnut Having spent time with a foreign national community, it is very common for people serving sentences to accept being deported for a shorter sentence and then they quite simply come back illegally to the UK. The ones that carry out their sentence in the UK fully do so they can gain legal status in UK otherwise they can choose the quick way out and back in again

Coffeetime25 · 29/10/2025 18:57

if Tommy and his reform buddies are to be believed no white British/English people have ever committed a crime or fled to another country to evade justice only migrants do these things whilst stealing jobs homes etc whilst living it large in hotels getting all the latest stuff
maybe open your eyes and think for yourself and do your own research

Whattheactu · 29/10/2025 18:51

Will you get it in your head that in countries where wages are a bowl of rice, if that, people paying thousands to criminal traffickers unlikely to have come into that money with means of honest labour.
Nor is a man who seeks a more carefree life while leaving his daughter, wife, sister, mum, other women in the family to live powerless, to be mistreated, killed or raped is an asset to any society and the people in Europe do not benefit from having society populated by such individuals.

Hardly "spiralling"!
Why is it that women expressing real concern are dismissed in such a way?

Because we must think of the men! Don't you know by now that men's rights always trump women's. Incidentally, I believe the Ethiopian in question had fled his home country because he got a local girl pregnant and had been threatened by her family. I strongly suspect a high percentage of illegal immigrants are fleeing their countries because they are wanted ciminals or in trouble for social reasons. Another percentage are economic migrants. This is a disaster for women here and not in the least bit helpful to genuine refugees.

ScreamingBeans · 29/10/2025 18:38

Is there a scheme where the UK government can recoup the cost of imprisoning a citizen of another country that we are having to feed and house because he's committed a crime in this country?

If not there should be. There are schemes to recoup healthcare costs, I can't see why there couldn't be an international scheme to recoup prison costs.

I trust the UK would be net recipients rather than net donors, but who knows.

Timeforabitofpeace · 29/10/2025 18:29

We aren’t all the same, any more than you Reform members are exactly the same as Tommy Robinson.

True it’s patronising and not helpful. Women can talk about crimes that make them feel unsafe.

I also found it hard to understand why that twat Farage told survivors of grooming gangs that they were not victims of grooming gangs. FFS.

When was this ?

No, @Dollymylove, lefties like me don’t want rapists here, any more than we want uk rapists here.

Really?
