Anyone else really concerned about asylum seekers killing people, seemingly to get a life term prison sentence?

Well currently neither of the adults really speak any English. And the woman will probably need to be at home caring for all the children. I find it hard to imagine he will find a job that pays well enough to support 7 of them without needing any benefits.

Also, the cost is absolutely ridiculous.
One family where I am (big town in SW) - family of 7 from Afghanistan. Live in a 4 bedroom house (have full rent, council tax and bills all paid) and get £200 a week.

I understand they're waiting for their asylum claim to come through. I assume when it does they will also then be entitled to Universal credit and child benefit?
This is just one family. How many families like this are all over the country?
Surely this is just not sustainable for such a small country.....

@Zenwalnut Having spent time with a foreign national community, it is very common for people serving sentences to accept being deported for a shorter sentence and then they quite simply come back illegally to the UK. The ones that carry out their sentence in the UK fully do so they can gain legal status in UK otherwise they can choose the quick way out and back in again

I'm fucking tired of being called racist and "spiralling" for pointing out that I'm concerned about undocumented men from countries who think women are lesser human beings coming here and the authorities seemingly having no way of knowing where they are or what they are doing.

There are afghanis that should be here - the last govt threw the afghan interpreters to the mercy of the Taliban.
When we were in the EU we had reciprocal arrangements to return/prevent small boat crossings.
My dc are female, so, yes, I'm scared - of the white andrew tate incel morons and illegal immigrants who think British women and girls are fair game.
Look at what the authorities being scared to point out SA, violence and grooming by certain ethnic groups did in Yorkshire!
But it was poor, wc girls so who cares, right?

They gave him £500 in return for him not attempting to claim asylum. If he put in a new asylum claim they wouldn’t have been able to deport him until his claim was heard.

No. There is a lot of mental illness amongst migrants but I don’t think they plan to commit murders specifically to get a prison place. It’s desperate people far from home who are not coping and who can’t face going home with nothing when they fail at their new lives.

Most just move on to another European country and try again.

My argument is that it is unfair to lay the blame for the massive benefits bill at the feet of the asylum seekers - I agree the cost is not sustainable, but disagree that it's unaffordability is caused by asylum seekers.

I couldn’t care if they are purple with green spots, undocumented people entering the country is worrying and we have no idea who they are, how old they are, where they come from or their past history.

We have enough of our own people here who cant support themselves as it is - we really can't afford any others.
I guess your argument is a bit like when people talk about potential dangers to women from thousands of undocumented men coming into the country. And someone really helpfully pops up to say how dangerous some British men are. That argument doesn't make any sense though, does it? So let's just bring more in?

You would be astonished at the benefits bill the taxpayer is supporting for families who were born and bred here. I work in a large secondary school with a 95% white British intake, in an 'affluent' home counties area. 18% of our students are entitled to free school meals. Which means those families will also be getting other support.

Your family mentioned above is just a tiny addition to the already unsustainable spend we are all shouldering.
