Anyone else really concerned about asylum seekers killing people, seemingly to get a life term prison sentence?

I didn't say immigrants are less likely to be criminals what I said was the picture being set was one of being scared to let your children play because of some immigrant crime wave. While crime is there and is always higher in poorer areas the the truth is as I said the risks from traffic are far higher.

Labour have just announced plans to over haul the immigration bill which I believe strikes a good balance and is long overdue. But it's gone very quiet from the Farage side of the fence. No doubt it won't be extreme enough.

But this is a government getting the job done, a government working on improving the NHS, a government funding the money for the prison and police force.......yes it costs money but we all knew it would.

My opinion is that actually this government is doing a good job and people need to reflect and think about the lies and bile coming from Farage and consider what a reform government would mean for public service. Don't let them get there hands on our crown jewel the NHS.

I wouldn't be so sure that data wouldn't support immigrants having higher rates of criminality - I suspect that's why the government won't keep this data.

How many of these do you think live in terrible conditions in unsafe countries and would be granted asylum if they applied under current criteria?
10%? So that's 800 million. Compare that to the UK population of 70 million.

Let's be super optimistic and assume only 1% of the people in the world are living in conditions that would meet our criteria to be granted asylum in the UK. That's 80 million - so one for every man, woman and child in the UK.

It is not possible for us to save the world no matter how much you might want to.

The government won't keep or provide the data on ethnicity/asylum seekers and crime/violent crime/sexual crime. I wonder why if it would allow us to see how peaceful and law abiding these people are?

Lobby the government to keep and share the data then you can back up your claims.

I don't know much about your statistics but get hit by a car then the injuries are nearly always serious. Something like 4000 children every year are killed or injured on our roads so my comparison is merely that a comparison of children being hurt by immigrants to those killed or injured by motorists.

I have strong views with respect to immigration but I won't be drawn into the debate where immigrants are demonised and labelled criminals because the data doesn't support those lies.

As I said in my post if you believed the media you wouldn't leave your house because of the threat.

Actually the biggest health risk to children is obesity.
The largest cause of death is cancer (although still thankfully rare).
The largest cause of accidental death is choking or suffocation, followed by drowning and then falls.
Largest cause of accidental injury is falls.

So in short car accidents are not the main or even a significant cause of death and injury to children.

Desperation and mental illness are an unpredictable mix.

Some perspective, not all immigrants illegal or legal are violent or criminal. You watch the news you would think it's not safe to leave the house. The biggest threat to children is actually the roads yet speeding motorists almost think it's normal to fly down suburban roads and then cry when they are fined .

It's important to get some perspective but also to acknowledge that we need a robust process of how we vet people coming in and how you deal with these people if they break our laws.

My opinion is pretty harsh in that those that come that we can't vet should not be allowed to even claim asylum. Those that fail even a minor check be rejected. Break the law....back you go. I wouldn't even consider men in the Asylum process....go back home and improve your country. Children is a slightly different issue....they need protection as do mothers but again there are limitations

It reminds me of when I read about people still sending ‘fan mail’ to Ian Watkins while he was in prison for the attempted rape of a baby among all the other disgusting things he’d done. Some people obviously seem to just think crimes like rape of children are no big deal!

He had agreed to voluntary removal. It’s a standard offer - £500 to quietly get on a commercial flight and piss off. Despite the outrage it generates among the tabloids it is much, much cheaper than forced removal - which involves extremely expensive charter flights and guards. The vast majority of airlines won’t touch forced removal so the handful of charter companies that do them absolutely rinse the government as they know there is no choice - costs are typically 25-30k per removal.

I’m not going to waste any time defending this guy, it’s clear he did a very bad thing. I just get very defensive when people call asylum seekers into question and paint them as bad people because of one crime committed by a bad person and I want to make the case that the vast majority are just good people who want to make Britain, their new home, a better place.

So you think it's reasonable for a man to approach any unknown woman, so long as they're an adult, and tell them they want to get them pregnant? Is it only acceptable when the man in question is an illegal immigrant - can hardly imagine you'd extend the same indulgence to a white British man?
