Two questions about yesterday's march

These people are ultimately about overthrowing our government for fascist aims, as Elon musk very clearly said in his 'rallying' speech yesterday, displayed on the ?BFI screens. If you don't find that scary then you're not paying attention or you don't find fascist uprising a frightening prospect.

Clearly if you were there, you were choosing to ignore the thuggish behaviour that was intimidating ordinary people all over the place as well as the speeches. I don't especially agree with the Gaza marches as it happens but they do not spill over into the whole city for hours like they were yesterday. And they don't shout abuse at ordinary passers-by either in my experience.

But how do you know I wasn’t there?
so many pissed abusive people but yet less arrests than the Notting Hill carnival.
what about people being scared when pro Palestine marches are allowed or do they not matter??
freedom of speech is allowed, not agreeing with it is allowed. Being scared is allowed.

It's not scaremongering to say you were scared 🤔. I live in London too - not near the route because I can't afford it - and I have never before felt scared of a demonstration because so many people were pissed and abusive. Deny it all you want but as you weren't there you don't know do you.

I would imagine the advertising wall that encircles the imax is controlled by a third party and not the BFI.

I was in town yesterday and I was scared. That is not bullshit.

Proud to disagree with racists and fascists. Listen to the speeches. They are racist. These are not opinions I think should be given air, no. This is not a movement that should be allowed to propagate.

The demonstrators were behaving thuggishly everywhere and not allowing Londoners and tourists to go about their day peacefully. They were pissed, intimidating, and shouting abuse at passers-by. If you didn't see that, lucky fucking you.

Whatever words you use to describe the March yesterday "nice" shouldn't be one of them

I live in London. I live close to part of the march route & saw 1000s of people on their way to attend it but didn’t actively join it myself. “Fucking terrifying display of barely contained violent racism” it was no such thing! Honestly the absolute lies people will tell to support their own political view point beggars belief.

The BFI should not be partizan. Should be open to all.

All marches are not the same. Scots stick up for Scottish independence not whiteness. If you don't condone violence you should not condone these fascist marches because everything about them is violent from the language to actions. However you'll note they were treated the same as other marches. It was allowed and it was policed. The demonstrators were the ones who made it different with their violence and by preaching hatred.

It's good the English are standing up for themselves like the Scots do. What's wrong with that? I'm not condoning violence. As long as we treat all marches the same and ban the Anti Semetic marches too.

It isn't nice. It isn't nice to hear people incite violence and tell a group of people they're not welcome in their own city either. Nothing about it is nice and if you're part of it and think you're doing something nice imagine what it felt like to be not white on any form of public transport in London yesterday. Not "nice" that's for sure.

Actually, thinking about it, given the issues raised on another MN thread the NI supporters of Tommy Robinson may not have had the means to attend.

The English have hitherto not been particularly nationalistic about the English nation so it's nice to see English flags for once in a non football setting. The Scots always have their flags waving about.
