Why Didn't Mandelson tell Starmer about potential skeletons in his closet?

Was it arrogance? Did he think that it wouldn't come to light?
Apologies if this has already been covered, but on the news there seems to have been a lot of debating about the Labour Party making checks on his past, when I can't believe that he wouldn't alert them to this.

Mandelson isn’t the only one with skeletons in the closet - everyone will get a big future surprise.

they did know

To be fair- we are WELL into the Epstein scandal and this doesn’t appear to have surfaced previously. That doesn’t mean starmer didn’t know, but I’d say they had good reason to think it wouldn’t be surfaced.

mandelson has been the slippery, corrupt choice for 30 years. Starmer knew he had skeletons. He holds such power, whether through diplomatic talent or what, who knows how. He’s been universally hailed as an excellent ambassador. Maybe it was worth it.

Massive sense of entitlement and the belief that he is untouchable.

mandelson didn’t need to tell Starmer anything.

James Cleverly (former foreign secretary) did a great post on X explaining how the ambassador selection works.

basically the civil service has a full on review/ investigation into every candidate. There is no way Starmer & Lammy didn’t know everything there was to know about Mandelson & all his skeletons before being selected.

I think they are all just delusional. They have seem similar revelations bring down lots of others but think it will never happen to them. Perhaps because they know they are special and deserve the position/attention/accolades 🤦🏼‍♀️

Power hunger?

Ambition?

Didn't think it was that serious?

Did realise it was that serious, but thought his involvement wouldn't become public, with all media eyes on Ghislane Maxwell?

Desperation to hold high office?

You think Starmer didnt know? Or the security services?
