Unbelievable (but not unexpected).

I haven't name called and I find your use of liberal as a pejorative strange. But let's not derail, you're fighting tooth and nail for a racist.

I'm fighting tooth snd nail for people to be treated equally by our justice system, regardless of their political beliefs.

I'm not using liberal as an insult. I'm using sarcasm because those on the left who consider themselves liberal - like you - are in fact not. You believe that only your own political beliefs are valid, and that only people who share them should be protected by the law.

None of the UK parties have it as policy.

Trump does, and has implemented it to a degree.

You may not agree with it, but it's a political opinion, which it is not illegal to hold.

Trump is a convicted felon.

He has no say in British politics

SerendipityJane · 16/08/2025 15:24

but the optics are fairly dreadful.

Well that will be the prisms you are using then.

"Nope, I'm your English teacher. Your compression still needs some work."

Not sure you should be teaching anyone English to be fair.

I think they meant they teach "the English" as a people, rather than "English" as a subject.

"bray" is rude.

The so-called liberal left are also quick to insult and name-call. Must be because their arguments don't hold.

I sprinkled the gun powder most light heartedly m'lord. Tis just an opinion, no need to take it so serious.

It was bantz.

notimagain · 16/08/2025 15:20

Well that's one way of looking at it.

OTOH the other way of looking at it is that the "hard right" are braying about why someone who was recorded addressing a crowd, making a throat slitting gesture and associated comment, gets to walk away a free man..

And yes, I've seen and heard all the "because...reasons," which may indeed be valid, but the optics are fairly dreadful.

strawberrybubblegum · 16/08/2025 15:17

MiloMinderbinder925 · 16/08/2025 15:10

And the hard right bray about lawless Britain whilst complaining that criminals who've pleaded guilty shouldn't get the appropriate sentence.

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” - Voltaire.

It's funny how it's the so-called liberal left who are always so quick to remove the right of others to hold any opinion they disagree with (eg the poster above who suggesting removing the vote from anyone she didn't deem to hold acceptable opinions clever enough)

That often happens on a thread like this.

And does it apply to say Ukraine, women and children?

OK, let's go through it line by line - since you can't seem to resist overlaying your own political views.

Mass deportation now.
legitimate political opinion, even if you disagree with it

Set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards for all I care.
You do have to read the whole sentence. "for all I care" changes the meaning to indicate apathy, not command

While you’re at it, take the treacherous government and politicians with them.
"take [the government] with [the asylum seekers]. The word "take" means that she's referring back to her comment on deportations asylum seekers. Deporting MPs isn't a political option - which I'm sure she knows, so it seems like hyperbole to me - but it isn't inciting violence against them.

I feel physically sick knowing what these families will now have to endure.
She's lost a child. She knows how awful it is. She feels sick knowing what the families of those 3 little girls are going through.

If that makes me racist, so be it.
Note the word 'If' . She isn't saying that she's racist. She's saying that she doesn't care if people brand her as racist. This is in the context of current politics and public discourse, where any criticism of immigration policy or talk of the negative impact on society of high immigration is dismissed as racism by the Left, in order to silence those opinions.

Is that you Lucy? You should have thought of all this guff before pleading guilty.

The "Guy Fawkes defence", I believe it's called.

I note that this man was a client of Garden Court Chambers - notorious for choosing to defend “causes” eg deportation of criminals.

If this gentleman was this blameless individual and obviously, as some pps are claiming, utterly innocent, then why bring in this particular hard-hitting law firm ?

Are you suggesting he is guilty ? I hope your insurance covers libel actions ...

You're deflecting and God knows why you're stubbornly defending some racist. Connelly called for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set on fire - that's not a legitimate "political opinion" and neither is calling for violence towards MPs.

SerendipityJane · 16/08/2025 14:25

strawberrybubblegum · 16/08/2025 14:18

Then she said that she knew what it feels like to lose a child.

And that if the remarks she mskes are considered racist - as all concerns about migration are branded - then so be it, since she stands by her political opinions.

And pleaded guilty.
