Look at the difference in language in the post I've quoted you on above. Your description of LC and RJ couldn't be more different. I can't see any other posters on MN rn defending Jones as you are. It may be subconscious, but its definitely there.
You absolutely are providing excuses and justification for RJ, but not for LC. She is 'repellent', he 'made an off the cuff remark', to give an example. It is crystal clear that you see Jones in a different light to Connolly. Just own it.

Whether the stickers exist or not, he called for people's throats to be cut fgs. He is absolutely in the same league as LC, worse in my eyes as he also drew his finger across his throat on camera, but perhaps you care less about Jones' target for hatred than Connolly's.

And Jones is not an MP.

I thought he shouldn't have said it. A jury found him not guilty of whatever the charge was. British justice, he took a gamble on pleading not guilty and he won, I think it was a big gamble but it paid off in this case. She didn't take the gamble of risking a longer sentence and got the entirely predicted i.e. guilty with custodial sentence.

Unlike many I've read the court sentencing remarks for Connolly, therefore am aware of her behaviour and why she got the sentence she did. You are minimising what she did perhaps because you agree with her, who knows.

She wasn't imprisoned for making racist remarks, she was imprisoned for inciting racial hatred and endangering life. The riots were sparked by lies doing the rounds on social media and inflamed by comments such as Connolly's. If you don't believe that what people write on social media has an influence then it's you who's deluded.

Its a normal human reaction to slaughter of children

Here are the bones of the situation. You believe that racist comments where a whole group of people are blamed and threats made to their lives is a 'normal human reaction' and I think it's the mark of a crazed loon. Civilised people don't behave that way.

Starmer did what he had to do to stop rioting which was endangering lives. Connolly got the sentence in line with the crime she pleaded guilty to. The sentencing guidelines are freely available if you're not too bone idle to check. However I'm sure nothing will change your mind about two tier conspiracy theories and idolisation of vile racists.

Jones was found innocent by a jury and you'll have to suck it up.

I'm giving my opinion. I'm not getting into a.long protracted " but what about this, that and the other riot". I'm giving my thoughts on RJ and LC and the convictions. My opinion for you to like or lump.

Rapid sentencing during riots is not a new concept

. You sound as if you know her personally. If everyone who made racist comments were to be tried the courts would be rammed with folk of every creed and colour. What he did was to try to whip up a crowd and suggested they cut throats of those who were rioting because 3 children had been literally hacked to death and others left with injuries they'll carry for life. People were enraged and appalled. Its a normal human reaction to slaughter of children. . Jones used the NF stickers as a reason apparently....I'm still wondering if these stickers were ever proven to have been put wherever by the NF. Haven't heard about them for years and years. However Jones said he heard about them and took someone's word I imagine. He realised he'd gone too far and apologised as did Connolly. If anyone truly thinks that the rioters were rioting because of what LC wrote on X then you're deluded. They didn't need anyone to suggest they riot. I have no idea why anyone would want someone convicted of inciting racial hatred and endangering life, to makes lots of money out of it. People tried to burn asylum seekers alive a few days later. She had a history of racist posts, said she'd play the 'mental health card', thought her post going viral was funny and didn't believe that she'd done anything wrong. I find her utterly repellent.

Jones apologised, said he made an off the cuff remark he didn't mean and was found not guilty. There were no violent consequences to his remarks. He shouldn't have said it and it's right if he's no longer an MP.

Jones is a horrible vile man because of what he said. He was a serving councillor, someone paid the taxpayer. Surely his behaviour should be scrutinised and should set a good example? What about his public conduct?

I doubt anyone had heard of Connelly until her post, infact I doubt many people would have followed her.
Why was her post so high profile? I’m sure lots of people say lots of stupid / racist comments on social media everyday, infact I could go on Twitter now and find comments that are of a similar type.

We didn't find him not guilty, a jury did that and that is how justice works, she didn't get a jury decision because she didn't go to trial as she admitted what she did.
