Unbelievable (but not unexpected).

Is it? I'm trying to keep my posts about Jones and Connolly and , naturally, Starmer's speech which he made just days after the slaughter of 3 children. Not sure what else you expect me to say unless you want repetition continually. There's nothing to stop you putting in your POV about other PMs though .

It was a scary time last August, Starmer dealt with it well.

I don't know what you expect a Govt to do when faced with widespread violent disorder?

People shouldn't take the law into their own hands and that goes for Jones and Connelly.

...but of course normal people don't go about trying to burn down hotels full of people or attack the police.... ignorant thugs do, egged by the right wing and the media.

Jones made his remarks outside of riotous behaviour, which no one took any notice off.... probably thought "what a tw@t"

What's that got to do with the sentencing last year? There's always whataboutery that's brought into a discussion. I'm talking about Starmer last year.

That's an odd thing to say considering this whole thread is based on whataboutery.

Jones being found not guilty by a jury doesn't mean he did not do what he was accused of. He did, and personally I find it unbecoming …

You find it ‘unbecoming’? Indecorous is it? Unflattering? I find that about eg. People spitting.

Only a Labour supporter could describe one of their own inciting people to slit others’ throats, as, unbecoming.

Recollections would also no doubt vary, had Ricky Jones not been caught on video inciting people to slit others’ throats.

Edited

Well, i don't understand why he wasn't found guilty but i didn't hear the evidence against him or his defence, just gossip.

I assume you did attend the case? as you've such strong opinions

Considering the 30mins it took to find him no guilty, evidence must have been flimsy or the prosecution case badly presented.

No he shouldn't be re admitted, he bought the party into disrepute....

Oh giver over with your faux judgement.

First off, as you well know, I am no Labour supporter - I support no political party.

Secondly, given the hysterical howling about how LC is somehow the second coming brought down by Starmer, a little understatement should be welcome. Some of use do have settings under 11.

And if my car had legs it would be a horse.

Goes without saying.

Definitely 😉

If that's your stance, Jones should now have his suspension lifted and be welcomed back to the Labour Party.

If you RTFT you'd know my stance.

Jones being found not guilty by a jury doesn't mean he did not do what he was accused of. He did, and personally I find it unbecoming in someone who seeks public office, and would rather they were not a member of a party I was (which I am not. I don't belong to any party).

Despite working in computers for over 2/3rds of my life, I still fail to think in binary and am capable of holding many many differing views in one place.

So no, I am not thinking he should be readmitted to the Labour party. He's probably much better suited to Reform who like actual convicted criminals as MPs.

At least you can claim that you're right once again.

Goes without saying.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 17/08/2025 12:08

I did anticipate that nothing would make you budge.

Unlike many I've read the court sentencing remarks for Connolly, therefore am aware of her behaviour and why she got the sentence she did. You are minimising what she did perhaps because you agree with her, who knows.

She wasn't imprisoned for making racist remarks, she was imprisoned for inciting racial hatred and endangering life. The riots were sparked by lies doing the rounds on social media and inflamed by comments such as Connolly's. If you don't believe that what people write on social media has an influence then it's you who's deluded.

Its a normal human reaction to slaughter of children

Here are the bones of the situation. You believe that racist comments where a whole group of people are blamed and threats made to their lives is a 'normal human reaction' and I think it's the mark of a crazed loon. Civilised people don't behave that way.

You give the impression that you're excusing Jones' foul behaviour.

No I don't:

He shouldn't have said it and it's right if he's no longer an MP.

I have given no excuse for his behaviour unlike you and Connolly.

Here are the NF stickers.

LC has been made an example of by Starmer's mates and please don't try to tell me that Starmer's prints weren't all over the rapid sentencing last year.

Starmer did what he had to do to stop rioting which was endangering lives. Connolly got the sentence in line with the crime she pleaded guilty to. The sentencing guidelines are freely available if you're not too bone idle to check. However I'm sure nothing will change your mind about two tier conspiracy theories and idolisation of vile racists.

Jones was found innocent by a jury and you'll have to suck it up.

Oh I know I'll have to suck it up and have done. However my opinions still stand.

SerendipityJane · 17/08/2025 11:34

I wonder if LCs offence is covered by the Proceeds of Crime Act ?

Deflection which has no bearing on the post you quoted.

Yet Connolly pleaded guilty and her fans sent her 250k. Posters here want her to make lots of money out of her crimes:

Does anyone else think that Connelly might actually make lots of money now? I kind of hope she does

Judge Melbourne Inman said of Connolly: “You intended to incite serious violence. What you did encouraged activity which threatened or endangered life.”

He has after all committed no criminal offence, been found not guilty by a jury of his peers, therefore he's an innocent man. Why should the poor lamb lose his job aswell?

Whether the stickers exist or not, he called for people's throats to be cut fgs.

And yet - before a jury who had the law clearly explained to them by a judge (unlike any poster here) decided he had not committed a criminal offence.

DuncinToffee · 17/08/2025 10:47

RJ couldn't take back the words he had spoken.

LC could have deleted her tweets a lot faster

SerendipityJane · 17/08/2025 10:46

MaturingCheeseball · 17/08/2025 10:40

@MiloMinderbinder925 you have minimised RJ’s actions.

And talking about social media: do you not think that footage of him talking about slitting throats might just have ended up on sm too? And viewed by impressionable people?

So, what ? You want a retrial ?

Look at the difference in language in the post I've quoted you on above. Your description of LC and RJ couldn't be more different. I can't see any other posters on MN rn defending Jones as you are. It may be subconscious, but its definitely there.
You absolutely are providing excuses and justification for RJ, but not for LC. She is 'repellent', he 'made an off the cuff remark', to give an example. It is crystal clear that you see Jones in a different light to Connolly. Just own it.

Whether the stickers exist or not, he called for people's throats to be cut fgs. He is absolutely in the same league as LC, worse in my eyes as he also drew his finger across his throat on camera, but perhaps you care less about Jones' target for hatred than Connolly's.

And Jones is not an MP.

I am not defending Jones, I very clearly say that he shouldn't have done it and offer absolutely no excuse whatsoever for his behaviour. Jones was found not guilty of encouraging violent behaviour and I have given some potential reasons behind the jury's decision.

MaturingCheeseball · 17/08/2025 10:41

Sorry @TheNuthatch , crossposted.
