Is Jones still a serving councillor? He may have been cleared but he certainly shouldn’t be allowed to keep his job , at least morally..

I don't read things behind paywalls, but maybe asking the judge rather than people here, since we have no idea what the reasoning was.

On the face of it I would agree it is unduly lenient from what I have read elsewhere. That has no relevance to Lucy Connolly though, and if it shows anything "two-tier" it is what it has always been - money talks, whatever your skin colour.

I would be interested to know the reasoning for this piece of filths short sentence taking into account his previous violent convictions and history.

When I did a speed awareness course, it was on condition that I accepted I had committed an offence. The instructors made this crystal clear.

During the course, one attendee started explaining how he hadn't been guilty because really the speed limits were stupid (they used to be 60 and were now 40). When he had finished, he was reminded of the condition and asked if he should be removed from the course and have his case sent back to the court (they had that power).

He finished the course without a peep.

I think it would be strange if one of the conditions of LCs licence is that she isn't allowed to swan around saying "I should never have been convicted" and that if she does, it's back to the big house.

She was told when sentenced she would only serve 40%, then be out on licence. All a bit two wotsit if you ask me.

I can't wait to see which refugee charity she donates the crowdfunded money to.

Big upside is that no-one can howl about her "rotting in jail".

So she’s served nine months of a 31 month sentence? Has it become normal to only serve 30%? I thought the usual parole was two thirds.

Interesting how, when the "left" post facts backs by evidence they are shutting down debate. When the "right" refuse to provide facts with evidence, asking for it is shutting down debate. Seems that the people shutting down debate are the ones failing to provide any evidence, but screaming loudly at the ones providing evidence for shuttting down the debate.

They were charged with Criminal Damage...... without lawful excuse, the jury thought they did have lawful excuse.

I think all these random cases prove is the justice system is complex and has the capacity to throw up anomalies but that does not mean its "Two Tier"

Yes it's a way of shutting down debate and ironically it's usually from the 'liberal' left who would prove themselves on tolerance, kindness etc.

Indeed, some people will gladly spend their time asking you to justify every fact, opinion or letter of the alphabet you use to “catch you”, they don’t want to learn or discover more, they just look for an angle to disqualify.

Honestly I wouldn't bother. Whatever you post will be gone over to the nth degree so someone can claim you haven't done exactly what was requested and no leeway will be given. By the way, the 2nd post does open.

For example, another large festival where party goers were arrested en masse for smoking drugs or dancing with police. If you think the police have the capacity or time to arrest every single person smoking weed at a festival of around 2m people, you know nothing about the capacity of the service.
